Hi guys, just curious as to what kind of khukuri the M-43 was designed to be...

WWII military issue to Gurkha troops.

And hopefully, John Powell will elaborate.

I already can't wait to get it! I'll be sure to let the forum know what I think of it when it arrives!

It's almost like the one you were going to special order. Steel fittings on a WW2. I want one too :D Perhaps later... :)

The 18" WW-II is still being ordered, and hopefully being worked on as we speak (not likely). However, Uncle Bill has said that if I do not want it when it is made, then he'll sell it off on the forums. In any case, I'll decide what to do when it is done...most likely I'll buy it because it is a different blade configuration, has a horn handle, and is made by Bura. Now, if it were completely similar to the M-43 it'd be a different story...

The M43 was designed as an update of the Mk II which was basically a WW I design. The new knife had a stronger grip attachment system, a wider pommel and better bolster design at the blade. The balance is slightly more forward and the blade could arguably considered stronger.

"John, there you go again with the pictures - can't leave well enough alone, have to post another wall section to ruin my day and stir up the HIKV everyone knows I don't have".

Jim was up early, as usual, so I thought I'd put up his usual reaction to John's good pics, and save his poor, tired fingers the effort of a reaction

JP,
SNIFF! drool,!If I ever decide to become a bad guy,
&lower my values enough to become a thief! THIS is what I'm going after & if they ever catch me,"no one will ever see these again"!
John I have "never" hated anyone in my life & no one has ever really tormented me to the point where I lost it(sorry Blues you do keep trying):D but lordy John you do come close to doing it!:D

Such abuse! I am merely trying to bring a little wisdom, light and joy into your lives and this is what I get.

If all it takes to get you some of you going (and you know who you are Jim and Walosi) then I may just have to post another "win a free kukri" contest with lots of photos.

Here's a picture of some alloy handles to get your juices flowing:

Bill,
the DBs would really like that top knife. It has a horn and ivory handle and is very, very well made. Too bad it won't be in their Christmas stocking this year. Or next. Even us rich guys can't afford to give away too much.

JP,
S**** the dust bunnies!!Who do you want killed for a free K?? Yes,
I would!! I know what my priorities are! So who,John??
Did I win??A FREE K?(pant,pant)!
jim

I am trying to figure out some rigorous and rigged questions for the next 'free kukri' contest so even Jim has a chance.

Dust bunnies are not allowed to enter.

JP,
Wonder why you using the term "RIGGED" DOESN'T SURPRISE ME!JP "you" are an evil, conniving, twisted, man!Anyone posting a"free" K contest on the HI forum & then admitting that it will be "rigged" is SICK!!I am sure there will be lots of entries! I for one will not partake of such doings!:D After all "Researchers"are only in it for
***** (fill in the blank)!:D See JP I am above this obvious temptation!:p
jim:cool:

And to think I had to fight the dust bunnies to get that 200 year old, $8000 dollar pin made by the 128 year old magical kami away from them so that I could GIVE it to John. That's gratitude for you.
