What was the M-43 designed to be?

Bill,
After I heard the provenance on the 200 year old pin I sent it off to my old kami friend in the UK to double check and he said it was 500 years old, made by a sorcerer(age undetermined) who lived high in the Himalayas and ate only rat meat. He also thought it was worth a lot more than $8000.
Jim, you are pathetic. I know you will try to enter the next 'free kukri' contest under some nom de plume and I may just disqualify you anyway. For fun.
Sorry guys, I can't reverse myself on the dustbunny issue. They are just too conniving and unruly.

The pin was worth $8000 almost 20 years ago when I won it in the bagh ra beera game. Of course, it will do nothing but appreciate in value.
