What was your first Becker, and why did you choose it? Post a pic, too.

Like the thread says...

My first is my BK-11. I was paging through knives at Amazon and saw the catchy "Becker Necker" name and it caught my eye. Like most purchases, I passed on it and let it stew for a few days, but as I was serving that self-imposed waiting period (too see if I really want/need something), I began discovering things I could use a bit sturdier EDC knife for. Sure, I carry a folder everywhere I go, but this knife was calling my name, so I was rationalizing needing a neck knife for concealed carry, small prying jobs, cutting up heavy cardboard, and trimming back small branches around the hacienda.

I went back to Amazon after a couple of days and immediately found the set with the micarta scales and plastic sheath/belt clip. Cha-ching! It was mine and when it came I was impressed by the heft for such a small, yet sturdy blade. I was taken with the uniqueness of the drop point blade profile (My first of those as well), and it had a pretty decent edge to it right out of the box. Shortly after getting that knife, I picked up an LMF-II and shortly after that, I realized what I really needed was another Becker, and so the saga began...

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. The knife is still stock, nothing unique, but certainly special as it's the one that started it all. Post your story of how you got started down the road to Beckerdom and post a pic of that first love. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to see!

Wanted to start customizing knives and though "Damn, I've heard alot about becker knives, might get some as customizing practice" and so I picked up a 13 and 14...Then the addiction started...

Does it count if I bought 3 at once for my first? I wanted a bk9 first though. Ill grab a pic in about 20 min.

Eskabar I wanted an esee 3 and an izula couldn't buy both then I found the eskabar the best of both and a price where wishing became buying. No regrets.

My beloved Camillus BK-5. Can't remember exactly when I bought it. It was sometime from 1999 to 2001. Saw it in a catalog and the design just spoke to me.

My first and still my favorite, recently upgraded with KaBar micarta.

Ignore the bottom two i didnt want to take a new pic

My first was the BK-11 as well.
Found it at a very good price.
Figured I'd give it a shot.
My first impression was "Wow!"
I was so impressed by the mighty BK-11 that I started looking into the rest of the Becker line.
Picked up the BK-2, got involved in the forum, picked up some more Beckers, and the rest is recent history...

Here's my first one. I always loved the look of the BK2 but I never bought one. I have been looking for amnice big utility blade and the other day I was offered this BK9 for a smokin price so I jumped in, now I HAVE to buy a few more.

My first and only Becker, the Bk2. I started looking for a nice quality knife after watching that movie "127 Hours"; something that I can use to chop my arm off in case it gets stuck between a rock and a hard place. I started reading the reviews on it and that's actually how I found blade forums. I used it a lot for my first few camping trips but retired it after I started using bigger knives/hatchet for chopping.

For me the 2 came first. When you first start reading about BKT knives the 2 is bound to be one of the most talked about. I first saw it on Equip 2 Endure on youtube, then I found this place and it's all been down hill from there :D

My first was the BK-9. I was looking for a big chopper. And I happened to remember years ago holding a big, beefy knife of my grandpa's that had black handles and a Becker stamp.

BK2. A friend recommended it as a first outdoor knife. Various YouTube reviews (Hedgehog and Equip2Endure among others) convinced me to go for it. Followed shortly thereafter by the BK9 (with the BK13), BK11, BK14, and then more recently the BK4 and the BK15.

Here's the stable as it is now:

BK2 was my first followed by a BK14. I needed a good fixed blade knife for the outdoors (I'm an avid backpacker) and after looking at the USMC Kabar I decided, based on reviews and posts on this forum, that the stronger better suited knife for my needs was a Becker. And 2 years and 7 Beckers later I think I made the right choice ;)

Above all else what drew me in to Beckers the most was all the pictures of customized blades on this forum and being a perpetual tinker/fiddler my eyes lit up with all the potential new mod projects.

My BK2 is a heavy user. It currently needs a little TLC...

1st Becker I thought was going to be the BK9 but when I was looking for a Becker I happened along to find a BK14 Proto the next will be the king stock from Kabar for a little while till I get to the mod the king it will be sick, I chose the BK14 proto because it is a Becker

the 9 was the first, then came the 2, then an 11...it is an addiction. 4, 16, 17 & 5 followed soon enough. Hey roguebowie, is that the fabled "smkw special"? did it get into a bar fight with the 2?

long live the king :D (if the 9 is the king, what title shall be given to the 2?)

my very first Becker and it will always be my favorite... a Camillus made BK2 i bought at a gun show in '03. its cleaned more deer than most knives will ever see.
as you can see, i recently got around to dressing her up a bit...she deserved it. the factory sheath had seen better days, so i ordered one of Skystorms quality rigs (gorgeous aint it?) and i thought while i was at it id pick up a nice set of micarta grips for her as well.

the reason i chose it was because i fell in love as soon as i picked it up.
