What was your first Becker?

Well, my first was actually a bk2 but got it in a trade and let it go within a day. Kind of regret it now because it had a real nice custom black leather sheath with a fire steel holder.

Although now I have a bk17 and she is great, picked her up about 2 weeks ago. Its the perfect size for me at least for an all around utility blade. So guess I would technically consider this to be my first. Great product for the money and would like to learn more about these guys and make some friends in this sub.

BK-2 was my first based on all recommendations at that time that it was the greatest outdoor knife of all time (for the price of course). Never used it other than to play around with it a little. Too heavy for me. Don't believe there is a single mark on it.

My favorite is the BK-15 and honorable mention goes to the BK-16.

My first was a BK14 based on all the raves about it. Much as I like the blade and the ESEE pedigree, the handle's just too short and the factory sheath--like most of them from most makers--is lousy. Tried the add-on handles which added girth but were too slick and didn't make up for the handle length. Truly want to experience the joy of a BK2, BK10, or BK12 instead, but B&Ms carrying them are thin on the ground here.

A BK2, two years and four months ago.

Mrs. C.

Edited to say, when I first got it, the sheath was so tight I could not get the knife out of it, literally. I was afraid I would never be able to use it. I had to put the thing between my feet and pull as hard as I could to get the knife out. I did some reading around. I eventually hit it with a hair dryer and the thing has been sa-weet for over two years now.

Cool stick around and you will make friends

Mine was a bk7. I posted it on here. The one and only bighoss said, you can't not have a 9. So I got a 9. The rest is a downward spiral that has landed me where I am now..... a poor guy that has plenty of Beckers :)

It was the BK2 for me, which I foolishly sold and have since bought two replacements. Circuitous route but I find myself where you are!

My first was a BK7 (NIB Camillus) that went directly to the safe. But after having my hands on one, I couldn't very well go through life without some actual "user Beckers." So as soon as KaBar started building them, I started buying them. A BK11 was my first KB user, followed shortly by a BK7 which is still my favorite all-around Becker. Then a BK9, followed by a BK2 to see what all the commotion was about. Later I added the BK15,16,17, and most recently a BK5, BK10 and a few BK4s. During this entire time I also bought doubles (or more) of every model except the BK5 and 10. I've learned the hard way that by the time I lose, have stolen, break, or just wear out an item I love, that the manufacturer has moved on and I can't buy a replacement. So I buy duplicates that I may or may not every need. Some might call it hoarding, but I call it planning ahead.

BTW, Ethan if you're listening, I'd LOVE to see a 2.0 version of the BK16 and 17 that were about 10-15% larger overall. My mitts are large enough that I actually prefer the larger BKs to the smaller series, which is tragic because the BK15,16,17 are freakin' awesome.....................just slightly smaller than ideal for us Neanderthals. I'd buy multiples of each if you offered 'em.

First Becker was a BK9, no sheath, bought on the exchange. Since then I have added Ironwood scales and a 710 sheath, which has kept it as my favorite Becker hands down. If I ever mod another Becker it'll probably be my BK15, which is my second favorite Becker.

What's a post like that without a picture? (already posted this elsewhere, but I like it enough to share again)

Camillus BK7 - also my most used Becker. Sometimes I regret giving it away; but only for a minute or two.

Beautiful knife and sheath man

BK15 about two hours ago. I'm going to look at it for another hour or so and then begin making some custom wood scales for the first time. One day I'll look back at this as the moment it all started.

Indeed you will. Welcome aboard, and enjoy the ride. :)
