What was your first knife??

I know this thread has probably been done quite a few times, but I wanted to see what other people had as their first knife?

The knife in the link below was the first knife I ever had. It was given to me by my father and grandfather. It's nothing fancy or expensive, just a small pocket knife they got at a local bank from back in the day. I whittled many sticks with it and just had a lot of fun in general. Unfortunately, I have lost the tooth pick that went in the side of it. Always will be one of my favorites.

I have no clue how to actually put a real picture in here, so if someone could fill me in on that, I would appreciate it.

My first knife that I bought for myself was a Victorinox Champion when I was 13 years old. I paid $50 in the early 80's with money I earned by mowing yards.

Victorinox Officer Suisse. My dad gave it to me when I was 9. Promptly cut myself with it by being careless and I still have a nice scar on my left index finger, 30 years later. The tweezers broke a long time ago but I still have the knife. I really beat the tar out of it, but if I wanted to carry it, it still works fine.

Some Electricians knife when I was like 8 or 9 I think...

My first knife was some piece of junk I bought for myself at the local swapmeet in 1987, or thereabouts. I remember it was a lobster-patterned slip joint. The scales were celluloid or plastic, primarily root beer colored, with streaks of vanilla or tan. I distinctly remember a spear-point blade about two inches in length, a pair of scissors (although I do not recall if they operated off of a leaf spring, like Victorinox's scissors, or if they levered off of the back-springs, like Wenger or Leatherman's offerings. There was also a toenail/fingernail cleaner, which is only worth mentioning because it wasn't crescent-shaped, like you see on a LM Micra, but was a tapered strip of metal with a circular endpoint, about one-eighth of an inch in diameter. The knife itself was dull as can be, and remained so, because I didn't know the first thing about sharpening knives at the age of 6 or 7.

After that, I had Buck 110 clone, that had steel bolsters and grey rubber scales that kept falling off. In order to keep them on, I wrapped silver duct tape around the knife and cleared a channel for the blade. Didn't look half bad. The knife actually held a decent edge.

At the age of 13, my grandfather gave me a SAK Tinker for my birthday in 1993. Still have it, in fact. It doesn't see much use anymore due to sentimental reasons.

Around age 10, I had a small lockback. Scales were thick stag, and the blade was maybe two inches long, and stainless. I'm not sure on the make or model, although I remember it being pretty high quality. I made the mistake of trying to throw it into a tree in the backyard. I promptly missed, and it sailed into a patch of ivy. I was never able to find it, and I haven't seen it in 20 years.

I still have mine, and use it every week. An Ulster USA scout knife from the early '60s.

I've used/ heard of most of those knives, they're all great knives. Never used an electricians knife though, or the USA scout knife. Looks like a cool little knife. Scout as in Boy Scout? I have a Case Trapper also, great knife to carry around at the house. Usually carry something a bit larger out of the house though. I have a great CRKT Fire Spark that I carry out.

Always thought the first knives people owned were some of the coolest though. Some of the best stories as well.

A Boker pocket knife I found...back in '63ish when I was around 8 years old. Haven't had it for decades. No idea what happened to it.
My first purchased knife would probably have been a Boy Scout pocket knife when I was in that group. Loved the fork and knife.

I bought my first knife for about $0.50 after I started getting an allowance from my parents in the second grade. A second larger Imperial for about a dollar a year or so later because my hands grew. Bought a Case barlow when I was around 9 or 10. That was a lot of money for me!! Used it for years. I never got a swiss army knife until years later when I was going to be working outside the country and I wanted something that had multiple uses like opening bottle caps and so forth.

Welcome to forum NightFox.

My first proper knives from a reputable maker is a CS Ti-lite (4' zytel) and a Rajah III. Order them at the same time from Amazon. Fallen into the pit of blades ever since.

CRKT FD given to me by a friend after hearing I wanted to get a pocket knife. I use it as my beater knife now while my spydie I baby lol. I like it though it flips fast with the assisted
Opener

I bought a cheap spyderco knockoff that had a flashlight built in. I must have been 8. I thought it was so cool :P I've still got it somewhere around here.

Vic Classic Blue. Gift from my uncle. I was 11 years old. I lost it, as well as the next two knives he gave me. But, it started this obsession.

My first knife was given to me when I was about 5 years old and I lost it at school when I was 6. It was an automatic about 1 1/2 inches long total, with pearl scales and a little colored knob on the butt that you pulled and the blade would fly open. Pretty cool.

Hey, I still have my Cub Scout knife and I just posted photos. My best friend stole my Boy Scout knife :( But I still have the Cub Scout and it is a lot like yours but is blue.

Victorinox SAK. Couldn't tell you the model. I really bent the snot out of the main blade prying a sunroof open (relax, it was mine). It wouldn't close after that. It's in knife heaven now :(
