What was your first Swiss Army Knife?

My first SAK was a Camper that was bought in a knife shop in New York City when I was like 8 years old.

Deluxe Tinker, my grandfather gave it to me when i was a lad. It came with a nice leather belt sheath. Subsequently both the knife and sheath have disappeared somewhere.

an economy lumberjack... becouse its all that i could afford and i love it dearly!

the next one was a standard (spartan without keyring)

still got them even though looks beaten up, but still work perfectly after more than 22 years old...

today i bought a nylon handle luberjack just for old time sake, but this one got tweezer and toothpick...

my alltime favorite becouse of its the model i caried most of the time for long years is 84mm sportsman... its just fits me so well considering the small and lightweight package combined with very2 useful tools.

I found a Vic Hiker when out snowshoeing as a kid. It became my main edc for a solid 10 years.

My first SAK was a Tinker bought in Estes Park Co. back in 1976. I was so naive about SAKs that when the salesman said they had extra toothpicks and tweezers, I laughed. I thought it was a joke. It was only later that I realized the knife actually had those items.

I was in love with SAKs from that moment on. I carried that Tinker until it literally came apart.

I then carried a Climber for about 20 years.

I have since moved to LM and other knives but the SAKs are still my favorite and I have about a half dozen.

My first sak was a swisschamp when I was in the Army in Germany. I have no idea what ever happened to it. I wish I still had it.

I had a couple of "SAK like objects" when I was younger, but my first proper SAK was a Vic Waiter. Still have it and never plan to loose it.

Earliest I can remember is a Scientist I bought or a Champion given to me by my girlfriend (now my wife), both in early/mid eighties? Still have both and working great. Use both, but don't carry the Champion for sentimental reasons.

My first SAK was a WENGER pocket pal given to me by my stepfather in the early 1970's. It has a bale instead of a keyring, and the main blade is spear shaped and the smaller blade is pen shaped. I believe that is oppposite of later models. I was made to carry it attached to a piece of bailing twine the length of my arm, so that I wouldn't lose it. I'm now glad that I was, as it has survived to this day. Now that I know more about knives, I am impressed with it's durability. I have never bought another Wenger, but based on this model, early 1970's Wengers were well made and not second to Victorinox. I have since passed this knife onto my brother's daughter. She is quite the fisherman (at 9 years of age), and it is a gift to her from a grandfather that she never met.

A Ranger or whatever they called em back in 1963 . It was bought in Switlerland . My first good knife .

Victorinox Climber. My Step Dad gave it to me when I was about 11, and it was also my first knife period.

Huntsman. Over thirty years old. Still got it, stashed in the safe now.

I was going on a camping trip and thought it would be good for opening cans and such. I was right!

Early 60's. It's got the phillips screwdriver and an awl on the back, the wood and metal saws, scissors, large/small blade, bottle and can opener, tweezers and toothpick. Main blade says Victorinox Switzerland Stainless Rostfrei on one side and Victoria Officier Suisse on the other. Has some kind of mark over the Victoria like an eye or a bow and arrow. Anyone know which model that is ?

My first SAK was the victorinox swiss champ. At the time it was the biggest and most expensive of all SAK, though now they them make them twice that size. I wanted it for a year or two when I was around 12 yrs old and my mom and dad got it for me for christmas along with the sheath. I still have it to this day and have used it for almost everything. I dont carry it anymore for fear of losing it as it has great setimental value to me............The one I have carried most is a SAK I got through marlboro. You saved the miles and sent them in and got items, one year they offered 3 different SAK. I did not smoke, I used to go to outdoor concerts when I was younger and as soon as the concert was over, I would go through the lawn seating area before they would throw us out and grab up all the empty packs of marlboro. I got tons of stuff from their catalog this way. I would get like 1000K every time........I used that particular SAK for years, I have to get a new spring for the scissors as it broke years ago. I have some wegner, but I like victorinox the best.
