What was your first woods knife?

My first knife period was a Kamp King folder that I still have! The plastic scales have long since broken away, but it's still functional. My first true fixed blade was the notorious cheap "Rambo" that is also still around here somewhere! LOL!

Cub Scout knife, soon after, the official Boy Scout knife and an Estwing hatchet.
Later moved up mto the Buck 110 and Ka-Bar USMC.

Hmm....My first knife was a Black SAK Tinker....Folowed upwith an AK bayonet. After those, I became very into collecting knives, mostly antique. I had a bunch at one time, but they went where stuff goes sometimes...

I had alot of collections when I was younger, Knives, Comics, Baseball cards, military surplus gear etc...

Wish I had some of that stuff now....

I don't know what model it was but mine was an Old Timer folder with a 4inch blade and I think celluloid scales. I carried that in my pocket from 3rd grade until I was in my early twenties. It went everywhere I went.

It was some sort of butcher knife about 7 or 8 inches long. I count that as my start.

I remember knives prior to that, and I took those to the woods, but I don't think that counts. I can recall my first penknife, yet I really can't count that. The father gave the brother and I some sort of little Sheffield Bowies when we were quite small too. And later came military jacks and KA-BARs, and all that. Still, although they got used for camping and such in truth I believe much of it was just play.

The reason I say that is an episode that jerked me to my senses. Folly of youth and all that – when the day came when we were to acquire a sheep I looked at my knives and had the strongest of reservations. What I needed was one of those big sharp things the father had that actually cut through stuff. Dunno if the wool bit put even more spin on my ignorance, but I had the strangest feeling, like my knives would just bounce off. Got myself a butcher knife soon after that. Used it in the woods for ages.

I had one of those like 30 piece swiss army knives, the big ones. I was 6, it wasn't long before I cut my thumb in half nearly. Haven't looked back since then.

This was my First fixed blade that I was allowed to beat on :D I have no clue who made it....the only thing it has on the knife is on the side of the blade - Special Hunter & on the other side of the blade where the blade meets the handle Japan - Stainless steel. This knife has been thru the mill... I have cut & chopped everything ! this knife is about 22~25 yrs old & is still on great shape..takes a really Good edge, you can shave w/ it right now !!!! If anybody has any info on this knife let me know please !

I was not allowed to "Play" with this one. This was the knife I packed Hunting

I toted around a USAF pilot's knife in the woods for much of my adolescence because it fit my idea of what a "real" survival knife was supposed to be at the time. The fact was though, I used my SAK Huntsman for just about everything

It seems like a lot of managed to cut ourselves with our first knives... I cut the crap out of my thumb with my USGI knife, gained a lot of respect for blades from that experience. I remember trying to hide the cut from my mother cause I was afraid that she take my knife away...

Dad got me an Imperial set when I was about ten. A fixed blade knife, axe , and a multi tool pocket knife. Still have the fixed blade and axe.
