What watch do you wear?

Watchless for 36 years. Wedding ringless for 25 years. Smartphoneless since they were invented. I would go underwearless too, but the wife draws the line there.

I'm wearing my Sandoz submariner this week, on a gray ZULU strap. I don't wear this watch in my normal rotation so I thought I would dig it out for a change of pace.

This watch is made by Sandoz of Hong Kong so obviously much of it is oriental in origin. The movement is a Swiss ETA 2824 or 2836. I have compared this watch side by side with a Rolex submariner and it is spot on with size and so forth, and by visual comparision there isn't much difference in the 2 watches. With the ETA 2824 movement it runs very well too. The watch came with the Sandoz oyster bracelet which is nice enough but comparing side by side with the Rolex bracelet the Rolex bracelet is much heavier. I've been wearing the watch on the ZULU so it would have a different look.

If only I wasn't cursed with small wrists and a love of wristwatches. It's like some higher power's idea of a cruel joke. I have a ghetto and ridiculous looking (I am ridiculous myself so it works) G-Shock, and a Vostok Komandirskie, which had a small enough case, but the tang manages to make its way out and on the wrong side of the "D" shaped piece of metal on the strap, which makes it a bigger hassle to wear and constantly fix than not having a watch. But they cost $45 for a reason.

That's a beautiful Komandirskie.

If I understood you, it sounds like you need a shorter strap. Hadley-Roma makes an oil tan leather strap, MS881, in short length: 16, 18 and 20 mm, black and brown only. Here is a brown one (regular length) on a little Seiko 5:

Easy to find online for $17 or $18. I would go to a jeweler first and check out the regular length which isn't very long.

Seiko 5 is Komandirskie size, Citizen 7 too (but harder to find). Big watches are today's fashion, and fashion always changes so they can sell you more junk. If you live long enough, you'll see watches so small you'll need a cyclops magnifier to read the time.

I've been wearing a Telux Trident since 1985. It's a great watch especially if your around saltwater. The last time I took it in for a battery the Jeweler actually thanked me for letting him work on it. I'll get a picture of it the next time I use my camera.
Have you ever seen one?
