What will a disc sander add?

I have begun heating the paper when I remove it. It prevents it from tearing and leaving bumps on the disc thus causing weird scratches when doing fine finishing. Yes the feathering disc adhesive work great but I use Franklin sanding disc adhesive, it is not petroleum based and looks like Elmers white glue. It works just like the feathering disc adhesive. I seldom have to clean the face anymore since I have begun removing the paper with heat. It also makes the adhesive last much longer. I get 15-20 changes before I have to re-apply.

If it is a choice between buffer and disc do the disc. I have a very nice buffer that has become a used belt holder. Have not fired it up in over 2 years.

I was originally thinking of adding a buffer to me power tools, but would a disc grinder be a better too to own? I was looking at the one linked off of the Wayne Coe site, how would that one stack up against the Beaumont one?

Mine does both buffing and grinding. I just use an arbor adaptor to hold a buffing wheel. It takes all of 15 seconds to change. There is a pic on my website under the shop tour link.

thanks

John

I never thought of that, it would be fairly easy to just switch out attachments to go from buffer to disc grinder.
