What will or has influenced your Buck Knife purchase?

I'll tell you one thing that has influenced me NOT to buy a Buck knife and that is the ones that are made in China. To me that is a part of the whole Buck mystique is that they are still made in the USA. I looked at a new one at Wal-Mart yesterday that I really liked and was about to buy it and I turned it over and saw the China on the other side of the blade and just put it down. Anytime I buy a Buck, in the back of my mind is that it is like a nice gun that will get better and be worth the same or more years later and could be passed down. When I see the made in China, I just don't think of it the same.

Jec88, only a TINY percentage of Bucks are made in China now......you can get a distorted impression of the situation if you go to the anti-American stores like Wal-Mart because they concentrate on China merchandise.

Look to your shopping habits. If we boycott stores that are anti-American we can force change.

Iv honestly bought most of my Buck knives because iv found them at insanely great deals... such as $50 for Buck/striders, $40 for a damascus/stag 110, and $50 for the 560... I bought almost all of them at 2 different times. 4 from a guy on craigslist and 3 from a guy at a gunshow

1. Nostalgia- Grew up during the time that the Buck 110 was the knife to have. It took me a while to get my hands on one, but once I did I spent many a good hunting season carrying a Buck 110. To me the 110 looks and feels like a knife should.

2. American made

3. Nice price and good quality

Edit to add: I almost forgot one of the most important (and one that I don't see mentioned around here much), that being that Buck is a Christian company.

I prefer the 'meat 'n potatoes' Bucks, such as the 110, 112 and Alpha Dorado. Those knives look great, perform great and are built great and being sheath knives, they don't tear up my pockets. I am a sucker for anything out of the Custom Shoppe and my favorite carry is an Oak over S30V 110.
