What will you be carrying on 9-11?

Will you have your same EDC knife/knives on you come 9-11?

Will you be going to any special events that will cause you to carry a smaller knife or no knife at all?

I'll be carrying the exact same knife that I did 1 year ago.

Obenauf Model 1

Edit: To correct a slight error in typing

No change for me. Indeed, I was out of work on 9/11/01, and I'm out of work (again, I worked in between) for 9/11/02. That means I can carry what I damn well want! For me, around here, that's usually some small to medium sized FB hunter/utility.

My current EDC:
Murray Carter neck knife (hand forged)
Umfaan
Small (Line Drive) Sebenza in G2 canted sheath
Glock 26

I used to only carry one small pocket knife and a Leatherman SuperTool with me before 9/11, but now it has changed dramatically since that sorrowful day.

I plan on my usual EDC carry for 9/11:

Spyderco Military PE
Spyderco Blue Rescue SE
SOG TiNi Powerlock
Leatherman Micra

in wallet:
Spydercard 50/50, and Victorinox Swisscard

on keychain:

Spyderco Jester SE
Arc AAA (white)

I shall have my Ontario short machete, my Sifu, my Cold Steel XL tanto blade, and my LadyBug on my keychain.

I shall then stand on a street corner near my abode, waving my machete at the heavens, daring all terrorist heathen to approach!

I shall do this from within a "weapon free school zone," taunting them mercilessly! They wouldn't dare break that law.

When I step out of the Zone and they attack, I shall feint with my machete, and slay them with my LadyBug!

THE FOOLS! How easily I shall defeat them!

Karl :D

PS: Real answer: the question should be "a larger knife, or a gun?" If something happens, folks will need MORE protection, not less.

Yeah, I know about our stupid criminal-encouraging governmental "protectors" and their ignorant laws...THEY WORKED REAL WELL LAST SEPTEMBER 11TH, DIDN'T THEY?

What will I carry on 9/11...? I will carry the truth and the knowledge that i live in the grestest city in the world...And my Busse Assault Shaker...:D

you read my mind Veritas...except mine will be a Sebenza ( small regular ).
A sebenza in my right pocket a 45 on my right hip and AMERICAN blood in my veins and Heart !
God Bless the U.S.A. and best wishes and prayers to the men and women who are keeping our country safe .

Would a box cutter be in bad taste? :footinmou

I guess that X-acto knife in my desk would work ;) or, those scissors with the bolt removed :barf:

Just a stab at unfounded paranoia. A few folks at work have taken things a bit too far regarding knives and personal safety.

The same thing I was carrying last 9 -11...my small Sebenza.

Sid, I hope that wasn't an attempt at humor.

I'll be carrying the usual:

1) My 4" Cold Steel Voyager Tanto (plain edge)
2) Leatherman PST2
3) Mini-Maglite w/ nylon belt holster
4) Schrade Tough Chip
5) Buck model #704
6) Belt-clip key ring w/keys
7) My cell phone
8) Bic ballpoint pen
9) Leather wallet
10) Cotton handkerchief
11) Pocket watch

After all, I'm not going anywhere on Wednesday that would necessitate my being better armed ~ though I'm sure that were I to bump into Osama Bin Scumbag, my Voyager Tanto would be sufficient weaponry to collect my twenty-plus million. (After, of course, I removed a few fingernails and other miscellaneous appendages with the Leatherman. :D )

I wil be carrying the knife that is to arrive tomorrow.

a large Obernauf model 2!

I'll probably be carrying my standard.... BM 705, BM 720, Victorinox Executive, and E2e. The only thing I may add is my Leatherman... depending on what I'm doing that day. :)

I bought it late last Sept. as a direct result of 9/11. I was carrying a Cold Steel small Voyager Tanto Combo edge on 9/11 and suddenly felt I needed an EDC that might be more survivable if I really had to depend on it. The Cold Steels, Pumas and Bucks Id carried for years were good knives, but I wanted something more. The lil Sebbie is certainly more! I really love that knife and was carrying it all day today.

I might also carry my MT Socom Elite that I bought a couple months later for the same reasons. I wanted something solid like the sebbie, but bigger. I really love the Socom. If I had to be stuck somewhere with only one folder, at least from my little collection, the Socom Elite would be it. It's big, strong, sharp and reliable. The big sebbie is almost as big, but for me, the extra blade length of the Socom E and the increased blade cross section seem like they'd take more lateral stress than a large Sebenza. The handle is also more comfortable to me.

Considering that my office is within a mile of the Federal building in L.A. (sort of a potential terrorist target), I'll probably also have the Glock 21 nearby (although unloaded and locked in an appropriately legal case in the trunk as this is Kalifornia). While it won't be real close at hand (wouldn't go over well in the office anyway) I'll feel better having it in the car trunk instead of 40 miles away at home in the safe.

Last year I carried my Wenger Mountaineer on 9/11 (while in high school, hehehe)...this year I have my bigger, badder, SOG Tomcat II holstered on my belt.

Warthog

so that means a mossberg 500 loaded with #4 buck, and i have lots of blades handy :D . if i have to set out it will be one of pygmy Rhino models which are my EDC. sometimes a model 66 S&W .357 gets added in. one thing i think the best way we can honor our fallen is to work and live like any other day and keep the candle burning to a minumin.

Most likely the same knives I always carried, BM AFCK, BM 730 Ares, Spydercard in wallet, Boye Prophet, Gerber Silver Knight, Queen 2 bladed Serpentine Jack, Rocky Moser CA legal auto, Bud Nealy Blued O1 Aikuchi.:D

But than again that's basically what I carry everyday, with some minor day to day changes.:D
