Gents,

If you could, what would be one thing that you would be happy to change/improve on the Umnumzaan?

I will go first. I would love some kind of texture on thumb studs. I think it would be an improvement over smooth ones it has now.

I was lucky enough to find one exactly how I like it...old pivot.no lockbar.old jimping star-tac :)

I have one of the originals - no "Idaho Made" stamp, no LBS, S30V steel, old style jimping, original G&G Hawk pivot. I would like to see the scale cross hatch patterning all the way down the knife.

The pivot has changed now, but back in the day I would have liked CRK to include the pivot tool and an extra set of O rings as part of the package.

The milling on the handle. It hasn't stopped me liking and carrying the Umnumzaan but I have never liked the milled cross hatch pattern on the handle and I never will. It should be plain Jane Ti like the rest of the CRKs, IMO.

+1

That's why I have a flame treatmend Zaan and a Startac.

I'd go back to the old pivot, without the lockbar stop. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
IMHO these knives are utilitarian and I'll a slip joint if I want to carry something pretty. :)

Make the thumb stud ever so slightly larger so my sausage fingers can access it better. Not to say that I don't love it like it is. Mine has the old pivot with the LBS. I will say this knife has slowed my blade whoring to a minimum, I am now saving for a smaller CRK for dress occasions.

Exactly. Slowest knife I own to get open.

The name. Say it 3 times fast. How about "The Chomper" or "HD 3.6" For Heavy Duty 3.6". Or "The idaho"

I've never owned one. One small thing that has kept me from buying it is the tools necessary to disassemble. The Sebenza is simple and requires one tool you can find anywhere on the planet, in the most basic set of tools. The big reason I havent bought one yet, just not sure I would like it more than the large sebenza.

That change has been made, the Umnumzaan now a standard "hex" pivot the same as the Sebenza 25.

I would change the name to: CF XL Umnum flipper. That's one thing..... right?

Take off the glass breaker and lock bar circle thing, I don't need those. No Idaho Made or at least not upside down! I'll take mine in D2.

 Plus 1. It is funny how so many people were bumming out on the Umnumzaan whether they owned one or not because of the need to use a separate tool to disassemble the knife yet I think if the Umnumzaans had come equipped with a tool, more would have been satisfied. For me personally I never disassembled the knife once to clean and lube and never had a problem even after owning for 5+ months. With the correct tool, I have seen videos where the process is quick and easy as well. Part of the uniqueness of the Umnumzaan WAS its beefy, space-age looking pivot and is what gave it style and separated it visually from the sebenza. So if I had to choose one thing it would be the return of Mr. Beefy.) The L.B.S. also just seems a response to customers' abuse of the lockbar which could be a good or bad thing depending.

Also I would round off the lockbar thumb-disengager. For some reason it creates a hot spot for me and is uncomfortable. It is the main reason why I no longer own an Umnumzaan as awesome a knife as it is.

A CF flipper version would be waaaay cool.

Dont you still need the take down tool to hold the other side though? Though I imagine improvising something to hold the other side with rudimentary tools is easy. It's a fairly meaningless imperfection in what I imagine is a perfect knife. I will definitely be getting one some day. The main reason I have yet to is that I am more than happy with the sebenza for the time being.
