Texture on the thumb studs is the main thing, at least that would still keep it what it is. Does anyone know how the Umnum thumb studs are held in place? Is it a threaded union, a press fit, or some other sorcery? If there is a way to remove them without damage, I would take them off and mill some very light concentric grooves, then put them back on.
Actually, my biggest annoyance is the almost perfectly straight back side of the handle. Even the slightest curve here, like on all of the Sebenza's, would help it nestle in the palm of my hand better. But then, of course, it would be something other than what it is!
I can't say that I'd change anything in any of the incarnations of the Umnumzaan. I've owned the old-pivot, no LBS version, short thumb lockbar ramp and liked it. But, I also much appreciate the "improvements" on the newest version. I feel like it's a quicker, easier/easily accessible knife. Prettier or not, each version can definitely take on more than what you guys are wet dreaming about. You will never actually put your knife through that sort of use. It's all hypothetical.
My thumb slipping off the slick thumbstud isn't hypothetical, it happens regularly.

The only thing I didn't like about my umnumzaan.
precisely the problem I have
I don't think that I'd change anything meaningful on the knife at all other than to possibly sell one of the three that I have- maybe
If they could stop the flex of the lock bar when opened like on the 25 I'd like that, it's meaningless since your generally not pushing on the spine of the blade when using it without it being up against something to cut but it'd still be nice if that flex wasn't there.
A two blade kit would be sweet and is a great idea, I'm voting for an Insingo style blade paired with a Tanto on a StarTac handle that doesn't have the IM stamp or a Overtravel stop, now that's a nice pipe dream knife set !
