What would be the biggest pocket friendly gec you would carry?

The only GEC I have owned until now is a 72 lockback, that I won in a GAW from another member some time back. At first I thought it might be a little bigger than I preferred, because I usually stay in the 3 1/2 range ( i.e mini trapper ), but after a few hours, it almost disappears.

I like the knife so much, I just bought two more from the recent limited production run. One green bone, and the other is Cocobolo. I like the Ebony, but really wanted the long nail pull and swedge, that my burnt orange 72 has.

I'd say a single spring 73 is my limit, and not all are equal. The Northfield I own is phat stag and is bulkier than bone or wood versions. Great grip though!

I carry the 2 spring Eureka and that's enough, the Barehead is a little lighter.

Glad to hear the Burnt Orange inspired you to get others Mike

Anybody carry a Whaler that's not in a rucksack? :D

Thanks, Will

I could live with a Pony Jack riding along in my jeans, but the White Owl is absolutely perfect for pocket carry. The White Owl even comes with a bail on some variations, which is a requirement of mine.

Most Great Eastern knives should come with belt pouches...

I carry most of my knives in my right watch pocket if possible. The largest knives for my watch pocket would be my single blade Northfield #85 bullet end jack, or my 2 blade TC Barlow. Although too big for watch pocket carry, the single blade GEC 72/73 is about the largest sized knife that I would carry in my right front main pocket.

Despite the size of the knife, I do not like the way most feel sitting horizontally at the bottom of my right front main pocket. For main pocket carry, I much prefer my knife to have a lanyard hole so I can have it ride vertically instead of horizontally. Otherwise, it's all watch pocket carry for me, and thus mostly knives that are less than 3 5/8" when closed. Anything longer than that, and it either needs to have a lanyard hole, or it will ride in my back pocket upright alongside my wallet (which is how I carry my Opinel NO.7).

To me the 2012 BF knife (Saddle Trapper) is the biggest that I like to carry in the pocket. I picked up a couple of the Bull Locks and they are, alas a bit large for pocket carry.

Biggest for me is a 4" stockman.

It really is a great pattern Will. I was very happy to get the Burnt Orange from you. I had really been wanting one, and in the Burnt Orange, but I waited to long, and they sold out, and were almost impossible to find.
When I saw the current production run, I told myself I wasn't going to make that mistake again :D

The biggest, a 2 blade #73. The chunkiest, a 4 blade #61 Congress. Anything bigger and it rides uncomfortably in my pocket.

Of the ones I am familiar with, the #12 Toothpick and the #48 Trapper are a good carry size. I carry vertically back pocket next to wallet. I don't use a pocket sheath except for my Case Back Pocket, which I carry in my riught back pocket alone, on those occasions when I carry it.
