Hi all,

Of course this is more of a "mental exercise"......well.....sort of. I've spent too much money on several custom knives (and Hatchets) over the last twelve or so months and I really need to "cool my jets". Oooh sure, I'll continue to buy the likes of old/vintage knives (old Carbon Butcher/Chef Knives/Paring knives/Civil War era Flatware knives/Axes etc.) on the cheap at "Yard Sales/Flea Markets" but, I just can't continue to spend money (that I don't really have) on expensive production and/or custom blades.....except....perhaps one more lol.
So.....what ONE last knife would you buy if you knew you had to stop spending money like a drunken Sailor ? This is tough! There are several Knives/Hatchets that interest me but.....if I were going to buy ONE more.....I'm thinking I'd buy an original style GROHMANN #1 Canadian Belt Knife or perhaps have a custom made Canadian Belt Knife as I just really love the looks/style/history. I very much like my custom Brian Efros Canadian Belt Knife however....it's a very STOUT knife! I'd also like something that is (more or less) along the lines of the original Canadian #1 Belt Knife design/thickness/weight. Below is the link to the beautiful knife Brian Efros made for me :

I've been thinking about this lately because of limited funds I have to make my purchases count and I would have to say I'd like to get a large sebenza 21.

Mine would be the Adventure Sworn classic. I would loovvee to have that knife and that would hold me over....for awhile

I wish I could say it would be something exotic, but that would be a lie. I'd get a second ZT 0550, probably gen 3.

I did just this very thing last night.

For the "foreseeable future" I have to hit the pause button on buying blades. Any more and my wife will clobber me then send me to group therapy for those with blade addictions. I had put in an order for a Medford Praetorian G a few weeks ago that will replace my current trusty very well worn battle torn 7 year old EDC, I then bought a Winkler last week here on the forum and said to myself, ok I'm done! Then my wife mentioned wanting a new blade (OK there's my excuse to buy just one more I thought) so I made a call back to the states, spoke with Greg & Amy, worked out the fine details and ordered "just one more knife" last night. That was the last straw......... My wife is getting a full on Praetorian Ti so now my budget is shot.

So in theory this was / is it......... For now

Hi all,

Ya'll have chosen some sweeeet knives. sr15.....yea....it's crazy eh ? I've lost control and I'm in the same Boat. I suppose I should feel better knowing I'm not alone in this matter lol. I'm attempting to "get a grip" by challenging myself to find (quality) old knives at "Thrift Shops/Yard Sales/Flea Markets" and spend as little money as possible. Actually.....I'm finding this new challenge a lot of fun! I recently found a nice lil' Paring knife at the "Thrift Shop" for fifty cents and it turned out to be a CASE XX CAP 221 (3" Stainless) Sheep Foot Paring knife. I'm a JUNKER at Heart! Who knows, perhaps a Canadian #1 Belt Knife will show up at a "Thrift Shop". One can only hope.

Jack Crain custom made folding knife with 01 tool steel blade ( anodized). Only 3 exist in the entire world. He owns one. His daughter owns one. The third is in the hands of a private collector.

Probably a Strider SNG.
I love the "beat it break it fix it" mentality in case I got stupid with it.

For me it would be a Rocksted SHIN-DLC. It has always been a knife that I have always wanted, but I can never find or afford one.

Hardball, someday I'll have to try a belt knife. Hasn't connected to me yet and I grew up reading Herter's catalogs.

Boring as all get out, I would be happy enough with an Opinel #9 or #8. Easily carried. Tough as nails. Handles wood better than anything. Works for food well. People friendly. Light. Easy on the hands.

I still enjoy other knives but the Opinel does everything really, really well (so long as you commit to some TLC - they're crude out of the box).

I don't know. I have all my "needs" covered, and with pretty awesome stuff, so I'm not sure I'd be able to really justify further expenditures at all. I am very interested in the upcoming ZT 0562, so that would be pretty much it for awhile. As soon as I got my CRK Seb21 cf Insingo, I just haven't had the itch. I'm sure it will come back (it always does!), but for now I'm pretty much set.

If I haaaaaaad to pick something I was going to purchase right this moment*, it would be a Swamprat Rodent 9, ordered in custom colors to match my Ratmandu: moss green blade, orange and black handle.

*I'm on the wait-lists for both FlatBlackCapo here, as well as Rod's list for a Skookum Bush Tool.
