What would be the next step up in size from the case peanut?

Right and wrong. It is indeed the 22087, but according to the box, it's the Texas Jack. The two above it are small Texas Jacks. Like I said, they need to get their act together.

I'd based my description of it on that of a popular (and exclusively) Case vendor's description. I'd always assumed a Texas Jack to have square bolsters (from Case, anyway), so I wonder if Case did mis-label that box. Here's a pic of what the same vendor calls a 'Texas Jack' (62032 CV pattern) from the same page on their site:

And, oddly enough, the same vendor's page also shows another '032 pattern in stag (52032 CV), which they call a 'Medium Jack'. Same knife pattern, different handles; one's 'Texas', the other isn't. Clear as mud...

Edit:
Looking at Case's own 'Case College' site description of patterns, they call the '087 a 'Medium Jack' and the '92 and '032 patterns are described as 'Texas Jack' (large and small versions, both square-bolstered).

And the more you look, the murkier it gets. If it was a labeling mistake, it was a whole batch of them they mislabled. Whatever you call it, it seems to be about a size larger than a peanut, or about the smallest thing I find useable.

The Gec #25 Barlows and Ez-Opens are right at 3 inches closed. Only 1/8 inch longer than a peanut but the wider handles and blades make that 1/8 inch feel much bigger.

Mine said the same thing. And here I thought mine was just in the wrong box.

The '032 pattern is a serpentine handle that, in 2-blade versions, is either called the Small Texas Jack or the Medium Jack. It is also available in 3- blade versions and called a Medium Stockman. Since everything is bigger in Texas, a "small Texas" anything is a "Medium" anywhere else.

The regular Texas Jack was the '92 pattern, was 4" long closed, and is not currently in production.
