I got my mother a Dragonfly, which she loves and carries daily. But, she did mention that she sometimes wishes it were bigger. I see a Delica in her future!

that's why for situations like that i usually recommend lower priced, decent user knives. no sense in spending more if the person won't be able to notice or appreciate the difference.
Agreed, since I don't know if she'll be inclined to use it or not I don't want to break the bank.
The thing is that she recently asked me about different knives and has shown an interest so I figure she's thinking that maybe she'd like one, useful, all around decent knives for her own purposes.
I did give her a tiny key-chain knife (some Chinese no name thing) that she says she likes but she continued to show interest in something a bit larger so I'm assuming that she's like something with a decent and somewhat larger blade.
The reason I'm assuming all these things is because she never really showed any interest is my knives or knife collection until recently when I started acquiring more "modern" varieties of knives. Gotta admit, the newer generations of knives come in so many different styles, colors, blade types, hybrids etc. that there really is something out there for everyone. The problem, with so many choices, is that there are SO MANY choices to choose from and it's hard to get it right.
So I appreciate all the recommendations as it's giving me some great leads to follow up on.
Also I think this thread could potentially be useful for others as we all have mothers or sisters or even wives/girlfriends.
So what I'm saying is that I didn't just suddenly decide that my mom should have a pocket knife, in her own way she seemed to hint at wanting one. Which one in particular is a whole other story.
