What would be your dream Hybrid knife?

Mine: A Spyderco Sage with an Axis lock. I love the Axis, but don't like most of BM's lineup. I have the Presidio, which has super smooth deployment, zero blade play, but it's a bit thick through the handle for an EDC.

Take the sleek proportions and awesome ergos of a Sage, Endura, or Caly with an Axis lock, and you'd have a hit.

I wish Benchmade would go back to the drawing board with some slimmer designs with better ergonomics. That's just my humble opinion, feel free to pile on if you disagree!:D

My understanding of the Sage design is that it's paying tribute to the various lock designs. They are going to do a run with all the different locks that they've done in the past. I imagine that's going to include the ball lock or the caged ball lock like on the Manix eventually.

I'd like to see a very slim slipjoint with a premium stainless steel blade about 3 inches in length.

(And I mean a true slipjoint, not a Spyderco Slipit.)

What's the diff? (I'm not a big slipjoint guy so the fine details are lost on me.)

Dagon, in the next post, hit it right on the head: I mean a classic slipjoint knife.

(The Spyderco Terzuola Slipit does not use a backspring.)

I think he means a classically designed slip-joint, perhaps?

Yes indeed.

Queen has D2 steel in many of their knives.

coop - you're right, of course. And I have several of those Queen's. ;)

And Schatt & Morgan's F&W Series uses ATS-34.

None of them, though, are what I'd consider a real slim carry that disappears in your pocket like a Victorinox Bantam II for example.

I'm sure you're interested more in production knives, but probably a custom made knife would fit the bill - not even a custom ordered one necessarily. Custom makers post plenty for sale on the boards with good steel and such.
