After 3 years of being able to carry a multiple of different traditional patterns in case, boker, gec, buck and cold steel also the many years spent on heavy construction, drilling and trapping while always carrying a knife or two have come to an understanding of what my perfect edc would be.now before I describe it I must say I'm not thinking along the lines of a single blade because of lack of practicality, yet in winter I mostly carry a 47 or 92 with a lanyard lol.so first off I would want dark jigging similar to the 81 city stock or the old nyk co dark jigging from the 40's and 50's,and a second in golden/honey/whiskey 🥃 peach seed(everyone needs 2 knives), now the size I would prefer is the 35-2 spring like the latest Johnny on the spot, for blades I would want a clip the size from the 78 and a coping and a punch.would even settle for the clip and spear off 81 moose with a punch added.i almost described the case 6318pu except I want something with a bit more heft, the 29 sounds close except the clip on the 29 is a bit small compared to what i want,as for half stops,I prefer them, just because I like the sound of those cool clicks.PS:and a third in stag lol.

I want a really nice food eating knife. So with the large blade, bottle opener cork screw. That kind of thing. So I can be fancy at parties. That isn't like $300.(looking at you winemaster)

Mabye an alox or wood picknicker?

They are a lot rarer than you would think.

A GEC pattern 15 sheepsfoot and pen combo in hemlock green using the crosshatch checkering pattern from their single blade 78 they did in 2018.

I don't know if I would ever make it an EDC but I like think I would but I would like to see GEC build the following .
Northfield 73 Square End Trapper with Sambar Stag covers .
Drop Point main blade with a Wharncliffe secondary blade .
Steel Liners and Steel Pins .
I think that GEC did make some Wharncliffe Trappers but I am not a fan of the 48s .

I wish they’d make a wharncliff trapper on the 39 frame. 15 would work too but I prefer the 39.

You should check out French or italian traditional knives. Lots of corkscrews! Lots of traditional materials!

What would my multi bladed edc grail be? Hmm....

Congress frame. Screwdriver/wire stripper and slight hawk on one side. Regular sheepsfoot and awl on the other.

Or the same on a serpentine frame.

84mm Victorinox Tinker small with solid pinned ebony scales, brass pins and liners and carbon steel tools and back springs. I can live without the pick and tweezers.
Ebony scales on a vic tinker,I could get into one.as for doing without the tweezers and pick,it usually ends that way regardless.

I was hoping they put the wharncliff blade this last run instead of the spey on the 39,even better a punch.i prefer the 39's over 15 especially lately because the spring tension is to my liking.i also like the small curve, reminds me when we used to take our hockey sticks and put them on the wood stove and then put a good old Bobby hull curve to it.

This Stag Dixie pretty well covers it, really like the blade variation and how they sit low in the knife- makes handling a lot better. However, grail is something sought but never found....if only the Dixie were SMALLER. It may happen but only if Bill Howard wills it :D Could also be in all steel/stainless....he'll never wear that one ! 🤣;)

I’m lucky enough to already own my grail edc knife, this Kawamura lockback stockman. It’s surprisingly slim, the main blade opens easily with one hand, and it’s gorgeous.

I’ve had 7 or 8 “perfect edc” knives built so far lol. And I’m about to thin my herd out to get another built. This one will be a Ryu Kawamura wharncliff trapper.
I just got this Ryu WT, it is an equally good choice.

I already know I like the 18 pattern Case Medium Stockman above all others. I would take the design of this 2318 PU CS (Clip main blade, Sheepfoot and Awl secondaries), but have it built with the features of the 1977 Case 6318 SS - brush finished stainless steel blades, the wider clip blade, some nice Case jigged bone handles, and the more rounded hafting Case used back then. That would be my perfect pocketknife. OH

I'm wondering if I could adapt to a single large Stockman and just call it a day.
I think so, my second most frequently carried pocketknife pattern is a Premium Stockman (a Craftsman built by Schrade USA today). Not much difference unless you are wearing dress slacks. In normal pants (Wranglers or Carhartts) I can't tell a difference in the LFP. OH
