  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What would I gain, if anything by......

Try it and see. If it does'nt work out for you trade it off for something else. If you're like most of us, this is as much a hobby as anything else. Trade values hold for CR's so there is'nt much risk for a loss here.

I think I'll run the small 'zaan thing by Chris at Blade this year and test my ability to read between the lines. If enough people are out there to create a demand/market then things can happen, if not, well.....

Sebenza = "Worker"
Umnunzaan = "Boss"

With those names, the Umnumzaan better be better than the Sebenza.

Hi So-Lo

Chris Reeve stated in an interview with Woodsmonkey (interview is still available on Woodsmonkey) that if he had to go for one of the two "I (Chris Reeve) would go for the Umnumzaan" at 39:00 minutes into the interview.

That interview is really interesting and a great listen. It's also the interview where Chris Reeve says that a Small Umnumzaan is coming next.

Well worth downloading the interview to listen to the entire discussion. :thumbup:

I remember the interview, but not that well. I'll go back and listen again, that does speak volumes about the Umnumzaan. :thumbup:

I still like my large micarta better :p

Just picked up the 'zaan I mentioned in another earlier thread. It replaces one I used in a trade several months ago. I tend to look at the 'zaan as a tactical version of the Seb. Everything is a little more aggressive and robust. While the Seb has more than enough substance to get the job done, the 'zaan does it with more attitude.

I prefer carrying my zaan over my large seb 21.
The seb feels lighter, flimsier, doesnt open as nice, or make as nice a sound when opening.
It also doesnt lock as tight.
it is my dressier knife though, and I do like it.

the zaan feels nicer, but can look a little too tactical and put the sheeple on edge.

Well after much deliberation and spending some extra, quality time with my large Sebenza I think I'm going to add an Umnumzaan to the collection. Looking at putting one on preorder and was just wondering if they are making these in S35VN yet of it that is just the Sebenza?

They haven't made them in S35VN yet, there were some that got out the door with it written incorrectly as the blade steel though. It cause a lot of confusion until someone from the shop chimed in and said this was the case. I think there was mention of them starting to ship sometime this summer with S35VN though.

Thank you ssblood. Went ahead and put one on Pre-order. Order confirmation says it should ship in 5-7 days but who knows. Wonder if there is a chance that I'll one in S35VN when it arrives? I've been very pleased with just about every S30V blade I've ever owned in general and my Large Sebenza in particular so even if I don't get the new steel I'm confident that I'll be amazed and pleased with my new Zaan but I guess it doesn't hurt to hope?

You really can't tell the difference in the two steels as I have a insingo and 21 in s35vn and a umnumzaan and 21 in s30v and can't tell no difference in them

I have another Zaan coming in S35VN, so I will have both S30V and S35VN. :D

how do you have one coming in S35VN? Last i talked to CRK, the Umnums weren't supposed to have the new blades till fall or winter :o Or do you just have a pre-order with an undetermined arrival date :p Gah, if it's true..........
