Hello all.
I'm curious what I should call this shape/style of knife I recently finished.

Thanks

Yes, You could call it a Spear point... I would say, Its a Spear Point, Damascus Utility Knife..

Everyone would be proud to have that knife on their belt in a fine leather sheath! I would color the Sheath to match those great brown colors in the "Maple" ?? Handle.. But its your knife! Call what you want!

Great Work!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

The symmetry makes it look like a Leaf blade pattern.

Very nice blade

Leaf blade, spear point, hunter skinner, drop point... they all work. Nice blade.

Thanks all! I may do more of this reverse feather pattern, but I think I like the traditional feather pattern more.
I hope to be able to get back in the forge soon.

Are there any good references you could point me to discussing different profiles for different uses?

Isn't it backwards from a traditional feather pattern, and I think the other way looks more like a feather.
But I think I see your point.

I do need to get a lighter brown dye, though.

And yes, it's a K&G stabilized spalted big leaf maple off my property. (I've got more here....https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/stabilized-spalted-maple-blocks-for-sale-pic-heavy.1604961/ )

I wasn’t trying to be a smart a$$ or anything, I just thought there was something else going on that I didn’t see.

Very nice knife by the way!

I'm digging the whole kit and caboodle for sure. Great knife and sheath. I'd call it a hunter and let it go at that.

Thanks Dave.

Mr McPherson - I didn't take your question as being that way, and I apologize that my response read like I did. I merely thought it was an honest question, because I can see both how it still kinda looks like a feather pattern and that perhaps the term merely refers to how the pattern is put together.

I like the reverse feather pattern.... to my eye, it gives it a forward motion.
