I am looking for something new to add to my collection and only want to spend around $100. I do use my knives, so it will get a little beat up. My favorite knives are balisongs and there is nothing very good in that price range. I also love autos like protech. Microtech will cost a little more. I only have one flipper so I have been interested in those.
I've never owned a karambit. Anyone have experience with the 5.11 or Fox karambits?
Right now I'm really eyeballing a H&K Patrol auto knife that is made by benchmade. It has a blade made out of D2 steel. Cold Steel has some cool fixed blade Karambits for $100.

I like spyderco but I get bored with their designs sometimes. I want this new knife to kind of have a cool factor.

Any suggestions?

Are protech runts cool? They seem a little small in size. I love my Protech Godson.

I can say IMHO that Protects are users for the real world if you choose an auto.... BUT not all are favorable designs. The Godson,Godfather, and the Don certainly can be used but at a very limited capacity at best, and better suited for collecting, this would be the same for most of the Micro-tech line. If you you choose Pro-Tech. Stay in the TR series if you are really looking for a working knife as mentioned. The TR series are the best of the Best in a real user and will not disappoint for a fair Dollar..... BUT it would take a pretty well used one to meet your budget of $100.00 but they can be found.

Being fair: I have to add the fact that Pro tech will Stand behind their product. And MT well maybe not so much (-: Do some searching.....

All the best! TD

If I had a $100 cap I'd definitely go with a Spyderco Manix2 G10. Fantastic knife especially for under a C note.

I would put it away somewhere safe and continue to save up for a knife I really wanted as opposed to fitting a knife into a $ amount that I currently had.....

I would go custom/handmade.

JK BasiK.

Specs:
Overall Length - approximately 8"
Blade Length - approximately 3 7/8"
Thickness - 1/8"
Steel - O1
Handle - oak
Pins - hollow aluminum

I like my 5.11 Karambit. Snagged it when they were on sale last year for like $50...

If I personally had $100 right now to spend, (which I don't, since I recently purchased a few folders), I'd opt for a fixed blade, and the Boker Arbolito Relincho Cuerno de Ciervo or a Hazen 1095 series would top my list...

$100 budget. Spyderco- pacific salt. Endura. Delica.
Cold Steel- code 4. Recon 1. (2) voyagers.
Traditional slip joints option are endless.

I have a Pro Tech Sprint auto and it is one baaaad little knife! Fires out hard and locks up tight!! S35vn also!
I'd also like to agree with Tiny Dog re the TR series by Pro Tech......excellent knives!! I picked 2 up off the Exchange for a tic over $100. Both autos.
Excellent customer service also!

I'm moving more into a "user" mindset, so I'd probably pick up a CS Code 4 drop point in XHP. They can be had for less than $80 (probably less than that).

If you're into autos, I'd definitely save a bit and go after another Protech. Like Joe, I love the little Sprint. The runt is great as well.

They're tiny though, but if you can get past the shock of how small they feel initially, you'll find they're really quite handy and fun to fidget with in your down time.
