I had a very good purchase transaction with a member. I told him I would leave positive feedback and did so immediately. After a week I sent a polite reminder that he had not reciprocated. Several requests and over two months later I have received no communication at all. I even left a pm.

If you think I am kidding about the transaction, I will gladly share my entire email thread, and my follow ups. There is nothing but good stuff from both sides. Also, the other guy is active on the forums currently, so it isn't like he is incapicitated.

One other thing; I described this situation to a sale forum mod a week ago - no response.

So other than bothering the mods, in my shoes, what would you do?

Thanks.

You let it go and move on. It's not very good etiquette on his part but it happens. Put the member on your ignore list if you're really offended.

I personally wouldn't put too much weight on it and just move on. I have had the same thing happen to me, no biggie. I would just ignore it and don't let it ruin your day.

This is exactly right. Not all people care about Feedback equally. Some folks see it as a way to fluff their ego a bit, rather than using it as a track record of good etiquette. I've had excellent dealings with some folks, left feedback for them and never heard a peep back. I left them feedback, if they couldn't return the favor, I just moved on.

I wouldn't do anything except maybe not deal with that individual again if it really bothered me that much.

When I first joined I sold 3 or 4 knives and only one person left me a feedback. Even though I went out of my way to do everything right. Fast shipping, tracking, multiple follow up e-mails to ensure the knife was received and to the buyers satisfaction. In one instance the buyer was a friend or acquaintance of a personal friend so I even mailed the knife before I received payment. Still, no feeback.

I agree it's inconsiderate and even offensive to some but the truth is no one is under any obligation the leave feedback of any kind. It's not a rule so its not enforceable if someone doesn't.

Not sure what you expected the mod's to do? or why you e-mailed them? Nothing for them to do. No rule was broken or not followed.

Like I said, if it were me I'd note who it was and move on and try not to get so upset about it. All you can do really so why let it bother you.

Best of luck! .

Its happened to me a few times, and sure you wanna build your feedback up but it's really not a big deal, I wouldn't sweat it, no feedback is better than negative feedback ;)

Although I think that both parties should leave feedback, if I were in your shoes, I would just move on. The forum rules state that leaving feedback is not mandatory.
Here is the relevant section in the rules.

SECTION 5 - Feedback
1. All feedback on sales or trades must be kept to the Feedback Forum and / or iTrader.
2. It is not mandatory to leave feedback.
3. We will not edit feedback for you unless it's an obvious error (ie negative rating, but overtly positive comments)

abcdef: What you have done here effectively is leave ANONYMOUS negative feed back, which, of course is of no use to anyone including you. Therefore, I respectfully submit a waste of band width.

As you have been advised in numerous responses just let it go and move on. You'll be happier and better off, as will we.

Best Regards,

Paul

Positive feedback will mean different things to different people. On Amazon, for example, I rarely leave feedback unless the service was really exemplary or notably negative. Shipping me the correct item in the stated timeframe means you lived up to the bargain, if you go aboce and beyond or I get it much more quickly than expected I'll take the time to leave feedback.

On a forum like this, the situation is quite a bit different and I would be inclined to leave some type of feedback either way, but others may not see it that way.

The others are right, there's nothing you can do. Yes, the other party should have left you a feedback, especially after you left some and asked him POLITELY to do the same. If you were anything less than very polite about it, you can't expect anything. And don't feel bad about wasting bandwidth, consider it a learning experience. I'd also probably not do business with him again.

It is a little irritating, but as long as the transaction went smoothly, that is the most important thing..

If it is really important to you, you can always make a note in your sale thread saying, that you will be glad to leave the other party feedback, once they have left it on their end.

What I do is just move on. I also keep track of people that can't be bothered to leave feedback and won't buy or sell to them in the future. Sadly I have about 6 on my list. Also I have run into several that can't figure out how to leave feedback.

That might cause me to not bother leaving feedback. I don't like unnecessary 'conditions'.

Yeah it stinks but not worth losing sleep over. It irks me a bit when it involves several hundred dollars and the transaction was perfect. Just not important to some folks.

I don't request for feedback and may or may not leave feedback in reciprocation. For me, feedback is least important part of a transaction and carries no weight at all. I don't deal based on the number of transactions either.

I search for the posts of the person and using some analysis try and determine of its worth to do business or not. I try to check what portions of the forums the person posts, and if he/she has has any problem with anyone in the past. Google is your friend and it turns up surprising info about anyone you want.

And yes I do find it mildly offensive if someone requests feedback, and absolutely offensive if it is demanded. I have had folks sending me notes to the tune of - "do you want feedback or not? If you do, please leave me one and I'll reciprocate".

iTrader is new, bladeforums precedes it by a decade. Use your good judgement and search capabilities, and you'll know whom to deal with.
