I am thinking of getting the Mule 09...I would like this...
Thanks, my friend. I agreed.I'm not into the bling thing too much. I personally prefer the military/industrial look. Perhaps scales in OD, or black, (or both) with a mild texture.
Wood is not my cup of tea. However, I can mill them out to the finished shape and you can finish them your way. Micarta and G10 is no problem for me to do. But in order to stock them I have to buy them in big quantity. If I could have known the number of interested in advance then it may justify the stock purchase. Thanks, my friend, love your works. What kind of medium are you talking about? wood & Micarta are my bag. I'd love to see some stabilized bird's eye maple scales.
O.D. green Micarta has been asked for a bunch, i'm having trouble getting the color right.
Something like this in that Lexan you got. Or black G10. That kind of texturing on a becker shaped handle scales.
Are we talking Beckers, large and small? For that type of knife, I like canvas micarta. To go custom, I guess various woods, other fabrics like burlap, or multi colored G-10 would be appealing for some. I bet some would like some antler or bone scales, but maybe in dark colors.
What about some glow in the dark scales from Shadetree Phenolics would be very cool. Even some orange G-10 would be nice for visability.
Thanks, my friend. It will be interesting to see the poll in the end.Screw simple and affordable, if I'm getting custom scales I want them to be gorgeous. It's the whole point of the word 'custom.'
I tried to measure the 3D surface of the scales but, it just a guess. I'm learning Solidworks now hopefully I will be able to draw it better. How about your scales drawing? You know, one of the things I love about the Beckers is their mod-ability. However, I really don't feel comfortable modding my scales knowing how hard it is to get replacements, especially since they are hollow and not solid. Could you reproduce the standard handle scale in a solid block of G10 or Lexan? That alone would be fine by me, then if I wanted a crazy texture or whatever I could do it myself and not have to worry about the scales since they were solid and not hollow.
P.S. I edited my post above to include a picture of what I was after.
If "Tracing" feature is the one you refereed to then it won't give you the accurate dimensions.I haven't gotten around to actually doing an accurate set yet. I found at one point how to turn a picture into a model, just can't remember where.

That would be cool if you guys sent me your material of choice, then I machined it to the finished shape, send it back ready for the custom finished. Let it be wood, G10, Micarta and your imaginations.I second Derek's suggestion. G10 would be nice. It would offer the ability to shape/texture/fit them to anyone's personal preference. Plus theres a whole crapton of sweet-ass colors out there.
