What would you like to see from Bahco?

I am thinking about opening up an account with Bahco. Are there any specific products that you guys would like to have available? The Laplander is a given, but what about their other folding saws? They also have a ridiculously deep line of axes, so I was thinking about getting a 15", 20", and 26" axe as well, maybe even a pair of snips or two. I did not realize this before, but their parent company is Snap-On, which explains where the high quality comes from. I might be getting my hands on some samples soon, so maybe we can do some passarounds.

Here are their catalogs, since their online catalog is not very user friendly (pdf, files are 11MB and 2MB):

Axes

Pruning (everything)

The folding pruning saws rock! Maybe extra blades to go along with the saw. I bought one in Mil Green. Maybe you can special order that color. :D

We owned it until the year 2000. Sandvik that is. Sandvik sold it to Snap-On after that. Bahcos Moras are originals made by MoS so that would probably please this crowd at the forums.

All of their saws are awesome, both for wood and metal, check them out.

Trivia: On the Bahco stuff there is a logo showing a fish and a hook. this a 100 year old logo from Sandvik. The origin of this is that steel good enough for fish hooks is high quality. too soft and it will not hold a fish, to hard and brittle and it will snap.

Yeah, I probably can. I bet that color would go over well too, so that's not a bad idea.

Don't know much about their axes / hatchets but they look good.

+1  for Bahco. I've owned several of their small axes over the years and I've been very impressed. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Bahco again. I've also used the small folding saws and bow saws, also very high quality.

Hmm. I've just started shopping for a good bow saw. I saw some Bahcos but knew nothing about them. Now that I know the pedigree, I think I know what I'm going to get. :)

That French hatchet would be fun to try. I don't know of anyone selling them in the US.

Picked up a Bahco branded Mora in New Zealand. $11 at the lumber store:D

Hey Brian,

I was actually looking for a Laplander, so now I'll wait to buy it from you and support a fellow forumite (plus I didn't want to pay for shipping for just a couple of firesteels, so now I've run out of excuses).

I bet the French Hatchet would go over big with the tomahawk crowd, if the prices are right.

Also, if you got those synthetic felling wedges in I would get one to throw into the car. Considerably lighter than the metal ones and would be fine for survival situations without weighing down the car too much. I know how to make wooden hardwood wedges, but this eliminates the work and the weight it fine for the car.

The tungsten carbide Sharp-X sharpeners should throw sparks like crazy with your ferro rods!

I don't see Mora knives anymore, so I assume that they no longer rebrand them.

What are the prices like on these things?

I have one. I'm very happy with it. They do not sell them in the US. I had to have it shipped from the UK to get it. The edge took a lot of work to get to get where it needed to be, but I only had sandpaper, files, etc. The sheath is terrible. The fiberglass handle really absorbs hand shock.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I hope to have an order in soon. They actually have a version of that tomahawk available in the US, but I think it might be with a wood handle. I'll get with the regional rep and report back.

I have bought some time ago a Bahco standart range axe for a very low price. It`s a pretty decent axe for that price:

Yeah, the prices are very reasonable considering the materials they use. I think the small hand axes are around $25.
