What would you like to see from EKI

Things have been a bit quiet around here so I'll try and get some discussion going. I'd like to thank the guys at Emerson Knives for bringing out some new models and variations on current models. I have been nagging them for years to put out a production CQC8 and can't wait for my order to arrive.

Some other things that I'd like to see in the future - a wish list.

Canvas Micarta scales as an option.

More models with an option of thicker liners and scales.

True satin finish available on all blades.

A production CQC6.

Have I missed anything?

Cheers

Peter

Peter,

Some satin blades are starting to trickle out of EKI. The ECA Persian, although a hand ground blade, much more reasonable than a full blown custom. Also the satin Super Commander from TAD. I just received one yesterday, It should be a must have for any Emerson fan! Only 100 made. From What I've heard, Ernie will never produce a production 6, it's his flagship custom model, and it will stay that way. This is just what I've heard, and have learned to never say never :). Canvas micarta would be cool, but I'd doubt that will happen since it's another signature feature of certain customs. As far as the thicker liners and scales, there was a VERY limited run of 5 yr anniversary commanders released with those features, pretty expensive, and were sold out by about 1:00pm the morning they were announced. Not sure if any other runs of these will be available. Have you seen the new collaboration announced with EKI and Allen Eleshewitz? Also Ernie announced a new model the CQC 10 (with wave and oval opening hole) and he unveiled a 4+" bladed CQC 6 with a wave! I believe that the CQC 10 will be available as a production version down the road, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.

I was aware of the current offerings. Have you seen a pic of the CQC10? There is one over at Plazacutlery.com Very interesting and should go for a small fortune.

Cheers Peter

Brian - There is going to be a second run of the 5 Year Commanders. I'm on that list, and have a 5 Year coming around January per EKI. I cannot take credit for being quick and observant enough to snag the spot in line myself. I was dealt it by another forumite. EKI took my name & number in case of a 3rd run, but we all know that's not going to happen. I think we were lucky to get a second!

a few suggestions FWIW......

*a 4" blade waved CQC7 w/a polished blade

*a persian for sale in the $200 MSRP, once i start paying $300+, i'd gen'ly rather go custom.

*a super commander for the same MSRP as the persian and the CQC7 4"

*finish the screws better so they arent shiny/worn looking the 3rd time ya carry the knife (clip too)

*the EKI/surefire combo FINALLY becomes available........

*keep the green G10 available, one thing i like about EKI (and microtech) is the green handles, look cool imho.....

*that ernie would take an order from me for a custom CQ7 and it would be ready in 3 years (or someone would sell me a CQC7 custom for a reasnoble price as in $750 or so, want it to use not sell, any takers lol??!!??!!

*come out w/some new T-shirts

*make some protos/pre-pro's/etc more available to the gen'l public

*keep on rockin' w/the best tac knives around. the last few months i have moved almost exclusivly from BM/spydie/etc to strictly customs, emersons, and microtech. i honestly think that EKI and MT rule the roost when it comes to tac folders as far as looks/quality/ergos/steels/factory service/collectibility/etc go, imho ya cant go wrong w/a EKI or MT product. a little pricier than the others, but ya get what ya pay for imho

I would like to see a Waved 4" symetrically ground spear point, handles similar to the Commander with canvas micarta scales. Would also be nice to have the above described knife with a frame lock option too. Yeah, that's the ticket!

to get the job done, but i would like to see them go all out and make the best knives possible

I would like to see thick linners on everything (the .7 Ti), it would give them such a solid feel, as well as longer plastic back spacers.

Wave everything, i really want a waved Mach 1

Hidden Lanyard pins a la microtech.

A PUK, with a different name, and a 3.75 in blade.

Kill the Black T and replace it with BC and DLC

Yojimbo, I hear you regarding the spearpoint. I personally prefer the spearpoint blade for tactical/utility use. I love my SOCFK but it is a bit short in the blade. The blade on the CQC10 looks great, get rid of the hole and put a disc on it though.

:D CQC-10:D WOW!! If this bad boy makes it to production or is offered at the Emerson Collectors Association I'll be havin' one or two of them!! What a knife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Hey, I guess this knife does meet my description!!!:D

I think I prefer the disk instead of the hole.

Some great "wishs" here. Many of mine go hand in hand with yours.

*More C/P Options:
**Micarta Scales
**Thick Liners
**Satin Finish
**Opening Holes

*A specific C/P logo

*More "Ernie Styled" fixed blade, on the lines of the Kandahar.

*Specifically a 3.5 to 4 inched bladed fighter with an IWB sheath. A real concealment fighter.

*More opening holes, including a Commander version

*Long sleeve Tees :D

SIFU, :)

The production Persian, when released, will have an MSRP of $199

Surefire/CQC8s, well, thier coming. *Shrug*

There are more "Super" models in the pipe (no info specifically about the CQC7 yet).

Damn Spelling!!

Derek says that there is a production 10 coming out through HK (the gun folks). They had 20 customs availible through bladeart, but they are all gone.

Fast One - While I'm not sure about BladeArt, I DO know that Larry at KnifeArt had 20. He emailed a notice to me and I snagged one of the few they had left.

Satin finish mini Commander, like the Super Commander!!
That would indeed be an edged tool of immense coolness. I would probably buy too many, as usual (if such an act exists). :D

My bad, I got the wrong "Art". Those were the ones I was talking about.;)

Production CF-7 and CQC9 production.
I also wish Mr Emerson's training videos and books would come out pretty soon.

I just want the new Emerson folding Kerambit!!! I also think that a production 9 would be awesome.
Matt

Oh, I nearly forgot. How about some blades in S30V? This is a great steel. My Strider AR in S30V is fantastic. I can't praise it enough.
