I've been looking for a new knife, but nothing really jumps out at me. I've perused the Case and GEC offerings and have come up empty. After thinking about it, I'd love to see GEC come out with a large swayback jack. Something in the 3.75 to 4 inch size.

How 'bout you?

I would like to see a 2 7/8 inch two spring pen knife or peanut from GEC.

That would be nice. But I guess they would have to make blades and the scales all exotic materials to get their price up to $150 a knife. :)

I would like to see a small round ended serpentine jack about 3" with a spear master blade and a wharncliffe secondary blade with nice swedging and long pulls 1095 carbon.

A short while ago I whipped this up on my paint program for another thread. I'd still like to see one at 3-7/8" closed length.

I would love to see GEC produce a 3.5" closed length Split-spring Whittler.
Main Clip, Coping and Pen secondary blades.
It could be equal end, like the White Owl, or a new swell-center design like an oversize Conductor.

Heck, the Conductor frame in a Split-spring Whittler would be fantastic as well.

I don't want to tread on anyones toes but the 2012 trad forum knife would be good.

2 1/2" Pruner, just because I love hawkbills but have yet to see one that was pocketable

I would like to see GEC make some improvements on its Bull Nose Work Knife. I would like to see the same basic profile. BUT, I would like to see it with a bolster and pin as opposed to the press fit washers. That, or a bolt sanded flush for the pivot. Best would be a pin for ease of maintenance if blade play arises. I wouldn't want a bolt without it sanded flush and that would make it difficult to later adjust. I would like to see slightly more height to the blade maybe by a couple mm's. I would want micartas, woods, bones, stags, ivory as handle options. Stick with the O1 steel and keep the lanyard loop. I feel the weak link to the sod buster is the press fit pivots. Make it a full out bolstered knife with some classy handle materials and stop calling it a sodbuster and ruining any chance of it being considered worth more than 20 dollars.

IDK, just a thought.

Kevin

You have seen the split spring clip blade 57's right?

Hhhhmmmmmmmm

10. Scout knives! What happened to scout knives? All we have now are SAKs and Jr. Scouts. They're great but c'mon, the scout is a classic!
9. Mini Sodbuster Jr
8. Generally more knives with pinned shields and swedges
7. Old Timers back and the way they were - A hopeless wish
6. A Sodbuster Jr with a pen blade - I just think that would be nifty and useful
5. A Buck 301 with just the Clip and Sheepsfoot - Hate the spey blade
4. More wharncliffe/sheepsfoot oriented knives - They're just awesome
3. SAKs with Carbon Steel - Not gonna happen, but a guy can dream right?
2. More knives with lanyard holes and bails so I can attach them to myself so I don't lose them. I don't think I'm asking too much.
1. Barlows! Why do so few companies make barlows anymore! They used to be THE pocket knife way back when. C'mon, more barlows.

---This concludes my traditional knife manifesto---

I'd like to see a company click on the link to the Vintage Knife Catalogs & Ads (Images Only) and the link to the "Old Knives" and manufacture all the patterns that have been all but forgotten. ...and I'd like the new knives to have grinds and rounded handles similar to the oldies.

Along those lines, Case revived the "humpback stockman" and Schatt & Morgan's has their Heritage series and some of the GEC patterns are similar to the oldies.

I'd like to see more along these lines... give me a "Colorado Stock Knife" (Surveyor pattern)... a "Carpenter's Pattern" (Tear drop with one big clip and one big Sheepfoot)...everything on pages 9, 10, 16 and 20 of the old Maher and Grosh catalog. :)

But if that's asking too much... how about a single spring, serpentine double-end jack with a clip blade and a sheepfoot blade. :)

Yes, and they are ugly as homemade bowling shoes if you ask me.
Sort of the antithesis of what I envisioned.

I want to see a slimmer, more elegant and refined kind of knife.

The 57s just look overweight (read heavy), stubby and unwieldy. Looks like they tried to put 10 lbs of *stuff* in a 5 lb sack to me.

You asked :o

Okay Stu, just making sure you didn't miss it. The 57's are surprisingly ergonomic, also very elegant in person. But, that is only my opinion and I completely respect yours as well.

What would I like to see?

How about a 3 inch peanut with real stag scales. Real rough barmy, knarly stag the way the Germans and old Sheffield folks used to do it, with NO SHIELD. The little bit extra length would be nice, like that old cigarette commercial about a silly millimeter longer. And with nice old fashioned rough stag from bolster to bolster that would be a shame to clutter up the view with a shield.

That would make me happy.

Carl.

I'd like to see Case bring back the 087s (both the jack & stockman) the way they used to make 'em - slim, rounded, pinned shields, CV blades, nickel silver liners/pins, etc. While we're at it, please add a 087HE in red bone to the available handle lineup. Thank you.;)

P.S. I also wouldn't mind the return of the 3 1/2" --18HEs...:D

I would like to see the upcoming Case/Bose Lanny's clip with a blade of Devin Thomas 3v/154 ladder damascus.

I'll second your SAK with carbon steel blades and raise you a Buck 301 with carbon blades.
