What would you like to see?

What would I like to see?

How about a 3 inch peanut with real stag scales. Real rough barmy, knarly stag the way the Germans and old Sheffield folks used to do it, with NO SHIELD. The little bit extra length would be nice, like that old cigarette commercial about a silly millimeter longer. And with nice old fashioned rough stag from bolster to bolster that would be a shame to clutter up the view with a shield.

That would make me happy.

Carl.
This is what I was thinking in my previous post, I like the idea of no shield, I tend to like the pile side of my nut. Have you ever seen pictures or maybe you have handled older peanuts with a spear point master ? I figure a spear master and wharncliffe secondary would make a 3" serpentine jack the perfect EDC throw in some long pulls and swedging, would make it perfection for me. Something similar to this Colt image I found just sub out the pen blade for the wharncliffe and make it 1095

Okay Stu, just making sure you didn't miss it. The 57's are surprisingly ergonomic, also very elegant in person. But, that is only my opinion and I completely respect yours as well.

I check the GEC website nearly everyday for updates, but I appreciate the heads up.

I will concede that my observation is made solely from the measurements provided by GEC and pictures I have seen. So if I get a chance to coon finger one (maybe at Blade), I will keep an open mind.

The respect is mutual I assure you.

Thank god for variety!

Mmmmmm...how do you dare to invite kids in an imaginary candy shop? :D
I agree with Jake's thought about bringing back to life some old patterns. Some custom makers are really showing the way on how to do it...I'd love to see some production company do the same. Apart from that...let me think...
A GEC 3" peanut to tease Carl... :D
A Buck 303 with flat ground blades and wooden handles...
A GEC #66 serpentine jack with shorter straight (wharncliffe/sheepsfoot) secondary blade and 440C...
A Case ebony swayback jack...
A custom SAK section from Victorinox...
Not to even mention what I'd like to see outside the knife world...

I'll echo the guys wishing for a Scout and a Peanut from GEC.
I have a feeling we will see one of them soon, but I really am just hopeful to get any new patterns.

A carbon steel Buck 303, or 301 would really rattle my cage.

I would like to see the upcoming Case/Bose Lanny's clip with a blade of Devin Thomas 3v/154 ladder damascus.

I'm hoping for this one as well. I'll probably refrain from buying one of the 154cm versions, I don't want both a stainless and damascus knife.

It actually has a good chance of happening. Several of the old Case/Bose collaborations have later been offered in damascus. As the owner of the dogleg jack you are aware of that I am sure. Just have to wait a few years. Easier said than done of course.

That's for sure. They're leading the way.

I agree with Carl, a small serpentine jack is almost never a mistake (make mine with square bolsters if you don't mind). I waited for Queen to make one in 1095 for 6 years I might as well start waiting on GEC.

One other pattern that I really love is the old Case 55, the 3 1/2 inch cigar jack. I think GEC did very well with the White Owl and a simple jack off of that ought to be no problem. Dress that up in antique green or a deep chestnut red bone and you'd have a real old fashioned knife that would get me off the wagon more than likely. :)

I'd love to see a GEC mini trapper, at about 3.5" closed with a nice clip and wharncliffe combo. I also like the earlier recommendation for a GEC split-spring whittler on a white owl or conductor frame.

I wish Buck would return the 700 series to their line. Also, the 300 series in bone or exotic wood (not as a limited run) would be nice.

You got that right about variety! I would be interested to see what you think after seeing one in person. For better or worse :)

That sounds about right :D

Yeah, I would like to see them go with the 3v/154 ladder version by Devin Thomas. I spoke to Mr. Thomas about it for a while and it sounds like some good stuff :)

Case's red bone like they did in the 60's and 70's.
A 3.5-3.75" production sway back jack.
A production 3.5-3.75" wharncliffe trapper in premium steel.
More premium steel offerings from Case.
Better quality control from Queen.
Re-introduction of the Case 6488 big congress.
Case using Devin Thomas damascus, not Rob Thomas damascus.

This caught my eye. Is a preference for square bolsters mainly based on looks? Just curious. I've recently decided I won't be getting anymore square bolster knives since I find them much less comfortable in my pocket. I was just wondering the other day if anyone prefers square bolsters and why.

I'm not really sure why I like the square bolstered jack so much. Maybe because that's what I remember growing up. I do think that pattern looks better squared off. Funny how you get used to something being one way.

I think both the Case 32 and the Queen model are about perfect. Pretty little knives.

I would love to see a Case trapper with a single clip blade, just remove the Spey blade and give it the thinness of the Backpocket. and then scale that down to 2 7/8"

I would like to see a Sowbelly trapper, done in O1 steel, Drop Point Main blade, Warncliffe secondary blade,a Big one...
Pinched bolsters, of Nickel Silver, Bocote Scales, oval shield...GEC of course!
