What would you pay

I work on the road so I had it shipped to someone at home. I was told the action feels smooth buy they aren't into knives. It kinda does look like he dunked the whole thing in dye

Hard to tell for sure until you can get it apart and check for yourself, but yes, it certainly looks like a possibility. The reason it occurred to me is because it is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, and I cringe at the amount of YouTube dye tutorials that show doing it that way. Granted, many of them are on stainless Spydercos with little to no internal parts; but still, there's a right way to do things, and that ain't it as far as I'm concerned. It's downright idiotic IMO. I'll never understand why some have such an aversion to disassembling a simple object like a screwed together pocket knife, given there are also plenty of YouTube tutorials for pretty much every popular knife out there. Frankly, if they are not competent enough to do that, then I'm not confident they can be trusted with sharp objects in the first place.
(sorry for the rant, but damn)

Anyhow, the fact the action seems smooth is a good sign. Hopefully when you get home you can clean it up to your liking and it will still be a good user for you.

Whats everyones thoughts on the new opening hole without the thumb lugs? I dont like it at all .......

I hear ya. I had them lather it up with cpl so it doesn't rust up.

I got ferric chloride there to try a forced patina with that.

Probably gonna order the green scales from demko. Actually doing that now. I can always use them on my d2 jobbie.

I don't need anything besides the lock to open n close the one in my pocket. So I can take or leave the peanut/thumb stud.

AD-20 is a great knife. It's one for the permanent collection.
It's my favorite user so far. I had the first one in my pocket when I was flying concrete so it's got concrete stains all over the scales.

I wasn't sure about the lock but its the easiest thing to operate with winter gloves on.

Maybe one day I'll find a ti one to cherish but these will both be hard users

I can't get the knife apart so I'm guessing he dipped the whole thing in. Gonna try soaking it in acetone. I already have new scales.

He almost definitely dunked the whole thing. Going to get more acetone. I had to soak the whole knife so that's the almost but you can see all the dye in the bearing. Looks like more than would be there if it was transfered when I soaked it.

Got the bearings cleaned, forced a patina on the blade, and put it back together with the new scales. Shark locks, shark slicer, shark sticker, shark hat, shark shirt, shark keychain, n shark velcro patch. All for less than one at reg price n one at sleezbay price. I actually think I ended up paying slightly more than sticker on the first and sticker on the second one for all that... weird way to justify my addiction

I forgot because it's not shark. I also have a set of backup scales that have tints of orange under black. They don't look horrible. I kinda like them just want the rest of the dye to come off so they are still soaking

I don’t care for opening holes, Spyderco being the exception. These peanut shaped ones look tricky to operate, compared to good ole thumb studs. Awesome knife otherwise at a decent price!

You use the lock on these knives. If you're not opening a shark lock with the lock you are doing it wrong! The thumb stud can get in your way so the peanut is actually better in theory

The knives from China are notorious for all kinds of cutouts in the blades some more horrific than others, not a fan of any of them except spyderco, cause they did it with a purpose; not for looks or design...
