I was thinking, what would you prefer, a knife with a perfect (and I mean perfect) blade but a handle below sub par or a PERFECT handle and a mediocre blade shape/style? For me it would be a perfect handle, because no matter the blade shape if you have a bogus handle the knife is worthless.

Also, I'd choose the blade over the handle, because the blade is the working end and the handle is the comfort.

I can still find a way to use a screwdriver without a handle, but not a stripped screwdriver head.

Perfect handle and perfect blade for me. Or as close as possible in both.

TheDandyLion, just saying bud, look closely.

Lol. Easy mistake. We're all human bud.
Get a laugh from it and move on.
As to your question, I'd take the perfect blade.
For me that implies that it would be a full tang
fixed blade and I can fabricate a new handle.
I do appreciate a nice ergonomic handle though.
Neat question.

I'll choose the handle; things are just easier for me that way. I have a thing for a well thought-out and properly designed handle. Blades can be modified a little easier than handles I think.

Many times I find a knife that has a wonderful blade but the grip sucks or just the opposite. Great handle ergonomics with a hideous blade. Story of my life.

I will take great handle ergonomics and a marginal blade first. One of my favorite budget knives (CRKT Prowler) has a great handle and decent blade design but the blade steel just sucks.

For many of us this is our life story... Perfect example is Kershaw/ZT. As much as I love Kai, they always tend to do something where it isn't perfect. If it came down to I HAD to choose between the 2, I would go with ergos first, then blade, doesn't matter how good the blade is if you can't even hold it comfortably in your had to use it.
