well got bit by the hidden tang. just had to try it so here is what i came up with

cpmD2 spine is 1/8 thick
the 600 grit hand rubbed blade is 4 1/8 inch long (cutting edge) over all its 9.5 inch
the guard and pin are nic-silver and the handle is stabilized spalted buckeye burl
thickness at the palm swell is just over 5/8

let me know how you feel about her as i have the sister blade in cpm3V in the works right now too.
more pictures if needed

Very nice practical design ! [I already know you can do that ] The butt seems to drop down quite a bit though or is that due to the shadow in the photo ?
Please comment on handling the CPM D2 and the CPM 3V.

here is a poor shot of the handle but it shows the shape. the meat of my hand just falls into the dip

Reaaly nice job Butch. Love it. I am going to be making some hidden tang blades out of regular D2. Hope they come out half as nice as yours.

Slick man.

Yeah, some of the lines of that leaf behind the fist pict was confusing my eye to what that handle was doing. The third pict shows it to be not at all clunky. Wish I would play with it....

What do you think of CPM D2?

working with cpmD2 was a brease but thats what i expect of CPM steels even the most hard core steel ae not back (soft ) grinding when in the CPM style. it makes them more ever and smooth to grind most of ther get a little hard /tricky (belt eating ) when hard so get them close before heat treat (10v is a bear )

should have the sister to this one in cpm3v done in a day or so
then off to leather
i ll have pictures of then sister when its ready :)

Very nice piece  mind if I ask what You'll be asking for the 3V model?

Thanks...................

i ll post the 3V one when its finished but i have a customer that had asked me if i had any 3v in the works so he gets first dibs

other then that i got to get leather made for then i think (less some one wanted there own leather made for then )

and here is the 3v blade mostly the same specs but its cpm3v and wroght guarded not nic silver

please look past the dust on the last pic
any tips on how to get the resist nice and smooth on the blade so as to not etch it with the guard
