The concept of an EDC knife is as foreign as wearing the same socks. Okay, I wear the same flashlight every day, but I've got a box of knives that I rotate and it's driving my wife crazy! I also generally carry two knives -- a large blade and a small non-obtrusive blade! Recently I just got a Cold Steel Hold Out...and geeze...it's an amazing knife. It's got a 6-inch blade and weighs a scant 7 ounces! I also carry a CS Gunsite II (5-inch) tanto and a number of Voyagers, including a new XL 2011 Voyager with a 5.5-inch plain edge Vaquero blade.
I also have a 6-inch old style Vaquero with a serrated edge. I've gotten used to it, but people who have never seen one are absolutely petrified by its size. My state doesn't allow citizens to carry guns, but does let them carry knives. The small knives I carry include the old style Voyager medium clip point plain edged. I also love my Smith & Wesson Hawkbill (plain). I know many people don't like S&W knives, but this small knife was originally made to sell for $86. The Voyagers are wonderful knives. I also love my titanium CRKT 3-inch with AUS8 blade and a CRKT 4-inch S-2. Great knives!
Worst knife I ever bought. Ugly but I have to get my
money's worth!
Fantastic little knife. Say what you want about S&W -- this one's
one of my favorite EDCs.
Nice little Bear Damascus.
My CRKT S-2, titanium frame and ATS-34.
Bottom line...I carry all my knives. I just pull out my box and grab a couple. And yes, self defense is an issue with me which is why I have the larger knives. I can't conceive of just carrying one day in and day out.
I even occasionally carry this abomination. It's the first locking blade I ever
bought and I keep it for sentimental reasons. Got it at a dollar store. Best buy
I ever made. Or worst. If I hadn't bought it, I would never have bought my
other knives!
I have several favorite folders that I rotate carrying. The SR-1-B, BM 810 Contego, BM 275 Adamas, Bob Dozier Workhorse, and JWS SD-3 with lightning strike cf, are just a few.
Lately... this one. I won it in the Knife Rights drawing at Blade Show.
In about a month, Knife Rights is going to be giving away a ton of custom blades.
Worth a look. Just Google "Knife Rights Ultimate Steel."
