The bowie is in stainless Sandvik 12c27 and holds an edge also when chopping branches.
It is used for anything from open a plastic package, woodwork, vegetables, to filleting Trouts.

I've moved away from folders for 95% of my stuff now. I use either an 3" Alan Davis FB in 52100 or a mini-Fox River in 3V for most everything. I still carry a small WC Sebbie for times when I'm around nervous types, but the FBs do most of the real work at home and at work. I've found that a 2.5" ~ 3" blade does everything I need, gives me enough handle for a four-finger grip, and I can still fit it nicely in a pocket sheath for RFP carry.

spyderco p2,trying to see how long I can go without sharpening it (testing the "working edge"theory)going good so far.

I'm trying to figure that out for myself so thread should be helpful for me. Before discovering Bladeforums and starting my path to enlightenment, I bought a Gerber EZ Open Skeleton. I use that now if I need a beater. Its size and weight are about right for working around the house and yard so I'd like to find a better version of a knife like that.

I work in a high school, so my knife needs are pretty light. I carry a small traditional slipjoint every day - either a Case Peanut or a GEC # 25. They are enough knife to do anything I need there, they carry easily in dress pants, and they are "cute" and unalarming. I also keep a Spirit multitool in my bag, which comes in handy for fixing office or classroom equipment, fixing kids' eyeglasses, etc.

In the yard I use an old RAT 5. It's been beat to heck and looks like it, but it still gets the job done

My Les George VECP and Classic Sebenza large are my go to user/work blades.

Both solid as a rock, and look better the more they're used.

At work a RR mini trapper. Around the yard a large RR work knife (sodbuster). Beating on a driven shoot a Buck 301 stockman.

Spyderco resiliance around the yard and in the garden. Nice big blade and cheap enough that I dont mind digging around and beating on it. The other thing I have found very usefull for outside chores around the house is the SOG fasthawk. Picked it up last Christmas for $20 and have beaten the crap out of it ever since. Its holds a great edge and has endured the abuse with no damage.

Spyderco Sage 1 90% of the time. If I know I'm going somewhere that's not knife friendly, I'll carry a Vic Alox Apprentice or AG Russel carbon fiber lockback.

I'm a student and part time business owner. At school I try to carry low key traditionals like my Opinel 06 or Mercator K55K or even a Douk-Douk from time to time.

At work I carry a large Sebenza or D2 Paramilitary. My garage knife is a Cold Steel Recon1. Outside or yard work I use an old Philippines machete I got from my grandparents. Serrated Tasman salt is always in my back pocket no matter where or what else I'm carrying.

I took this picture last Friday on a stack out (plumber). Not much knife use but it's the easiest folder to take apart and clean after a few days of rolling around in the dirt doing rough ins.
