Whatcha sippin' this holiday season?

Bad cell phone pic, but one of my favorites, Lagavulin 16.
Neat, water back, please. :)

Merry Christmas everybody!

Picked up a bottle of 10-yr-old Eagle Rare to try. The wife says I have to wait for our guests to arrive before I open it

:p

Yeah me too. I'm not a huge fan of the 18, either, but the quarter cask and the recent cask strength bottlings have been my favs from Laphroaig, apart from some independent offerings.

Lagavulin I wont buy, I consider it massively overvalued. Caol Ila and Bruichladdich are the two active distilleries I'm most interested in, and of course the new comer, Kilchoman.

Big fan of the Corryvreckan and Super Nova releases from Ardbeg also.

A kindred spirit, I see.
The lagavulin was on sale, that's the only time I buy it. ;)

Personally, I'm all about Canadian whiskey. When I splurge I like Pendleton. My everyday sip is Black Velvet.

Eagle Rare is fanatstic stuff, especially for the $24.99 price tag where I am.

It was $33 after tax here, and we were all very pleased with it. It's not a $200 Scotch by any means, but it stacks up very nicely against most $50-60 bottles, and it's a huge jump up from the typical $25 dollar stuff.

I'll keep an eye out for Old Forester.

I should mention we had visitors who brought a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel to sample... I'd had the regular stuff before and wasn't impressed, but the SB was pretty good.

In the bargain bin department, if you like milder wheated bourbons, give Rebel Yell a try. Very nice, especially at under $20 :)
