Whatever happened to the BK32?

Lot of hate on the logo. Not my favorite thing about the knife, sure, but get a little wear on it and it becomes pretty subdued, really. In person, if it's not within about 18 inches of my eye, it's barely noticeable. Sure, you can see this.

Look at it at a little different angle, it starts to disappear in a hurry.

Of course, that spot of rust under the finish would be a lot less ugly under a black coating.
Why doesn't kabar understand we don't want...pink... handles.
No, how dumb would that be?

Anyone want a set of sinus infection green scales?:D

^This. I would have most certainly put up with the logo had I obtained one. Sadly, I thought they were sticking around, so I waited too long...

I recently acquired two NOS examples here at the tail end of 2018. I couldn't care less about the stuff on the left side of the blade. I do like the fact that you can't hide flaws like rust under the clear coating. I rather like the green scale color, but the material makes them useless. One knife got a set of Kabar micarta, and it made all the difference.

In my opininion, neon colored things are good to have when you are in the weeds. Sinus infection green or neon pink are excellent in this respect. It's just too bad about the material.

One is to go (the one with Micarta scales), and the other is to show. It will never be sheathed or basically touched. I have been paying twice what a Bk2 or 22 sells for, but I intend to snag as many as I can while I have a source. I'm weird that way.

It just seems like whenever I find something I like, they immediately stop making it. I found out about these things 3 years after they stopped. At least I'll always have something handy if I need to skin out a Buick.

Found a real deal (pronounced cheap) on one and immediately changed the handles out to black.
Then this

became this

It has aged well with lots of use. I don't have any current pics, but I barely notice the "watermark" any more.
Sweet looking blade man. Is the logo actually etched into the blade?

Welcome to the forum man, glad to have you here.

Thanks. I appreciate that. I've been around a couple of years and peek in from time to time when work allows.
To answer your question, the logo is somehow etched down into the metal. You can't feel it, but when it was stripped, it had no effect on lightening the logo.
The coarse mustard patina just confuses the eye and makes you not see the logo. Over time that patina kind of goes away but is replaced by a work patina, as you well know.
If the logo ever becomes noticeable again, I'll just "rinse, lather, and repeat" so to speak.

I'll take those scales, and your little dog, too! If you carry a pink Bk2, you are comfortable with your manhood and can find your knife in the grass. If you have a Heeler, you're also awesome! Best dog EVER!

I missed the comments about rust earlier. The funny thing is, there was a spot of rust on mine in nearly the same exact spot by the point before I stripped it. That is strange.

There is a BK32 on eBay right now for $250 (advertised as a BK2). Includes a number of high-res pictures. They show a lot of tool marks ... perhaps that's part of the knife's character.

It's a pretty nifty-looking blade with the green scales, although that's a hefty price. The knife was available at some point on Amazon, and interestingly no fewer than five reviews mention that it came with rust spots under the clearcoat
