those are nice suggestions. the buck 119 is nice but i wanna see what other options there are. i dont want a machete.
i dont like the ka bar because of the completely circular handle.

Spend $5 on a file and you can reshape the leather handle to be anything you want.

I hate to sound like part of the chorus, but my first thoughts are either KaBar or Buck 119.

My FIL gave me a 119 for Christmas a couple of years ago. I'm more of a dropped point fan so I just put it in the truck as a beater. My wife used it to remove some creeping ivy from a concrete porch and she wasn't exactly concerned about sparing the edge. I must say that it held up very well to a heck of a lot of concrete abrasion---seems like it would hold up great as a fighter.

some very good points, i read every comment carefully. seems like everyone is reccomending the buck 119 and a ka bar.

But one comment sugggested the glock field knife 81 and im really interested in it. it has spring steel with a 50-55 Rc hardness i hear, its perfectly the look i was after.
Does anyone know much about it? im watching noss destroy one now.

You don't like the Ka-bar's circular handle yet you like the Glock's?
hmm....
I would say get a Ka-bar it has better steel than the Glock, and is just a better over all knife. If you do end up getting the a Glock knife I suggest you get a 78 and not an 81.

He can file down the handle ot his liking on both knives

Under $45. Hmmm

SOG comes to mind. Specifically the Field Pup/ SEAL Pup.

Cold Steel had some decent knives.

Gerber.

Mora knives.

HTH

- Muddy Pete

Its not full tang per se, Its got a tang but there is a space after it then there is the weight in the pommel as counterbalance for throwing. Watch the destruction test i posted and youll see what im talking about.

How about a hawk?
You can get a cold steel hawk for around $30 and are plenty deadly and have reach.
Guys have been fighting with those without change for hundreds of years.

SOG SEAL Pup. great knife for the price. decent steel (AUS8), great little sheath, even has a pocket for a multitool. looks pretty tacticool
