What's a good leather belt for CCW?

Hey all,
I remember a thread not too long ago that discussed the merits of various belts (leather and nylon) for CCW. But I can't seem to find that thread now, so thought I'd start another one. I have a Wilderness belt that I mostly use, but was looking for a nice sturdy leather belt to wear on occasions when nylon just wouldn't look right. I would consider a custom leather belt, but was hoping to keep the final cost under about $50 or 60. So maybe something mass-produced, but of good quality.

There is a leather maker/mfg. here in town that makes a belt that I've been wearing for a few years now. I am pretty hard on my belts and these hold up great. It is two layers of leather with a strip of kydex sewn between them. A little thicker than your average belt but not overly thick.

I have carried a glock 21, badge clip, leatherman and at times an extra magazine pouch and or flashlight. I'm not exactly a little guy and I'm tough on leather. I can recommend this without reservation.

I want to say I paid somewhere around $45.00 for my last one.

Their website is looperleather.com and this particular belt is listed under "kydex belt".

If you'll consider synthetic, I've had very good results with the Liger belt. It looks and feels more or less like leather (it does not look like a flexible Nylon belt) and it holds up very well.

I wear a Ken Null in horsehide made when he made the horsehide holster for my P-7M8. Any heavy leather belt will work but you do want to make sure it fits the belt loops tightly and the loops on the holster tightly, this will minimize flop. Sportsman's Warehouse carries nice belts heavy enough for carry duty at good prices.

Phil,
I've heard good things about the Liger belt, and I'll consider it, but I'm still thinking leather at this point. I may pick up a liger down the road, if my Wilderness belt ever wears out!

Absintheur,
I've been looking at SW belts. They seem OK, esp the Carharrt ones. Fairly heavy-duty. I've also found a few good ones at Walmart, the Dickies brand. Still may go that route if I can't find something I really like. Hard to beat $12.
I've also been looking at Duluth Trading Company's belts. Anybody have any experience with their belts?

I switched from the Liger to the Wilderness Instructor Belt specifically so I could have a belt I could adjust to "between the holes," so to speak -- the frustrating thing about my Liger was that with some pants the optimum fit was between the belt holes, resulting in a fit that was too tight or too loose. Despite that, though, it's a really good belt, and that's a minor problem. Most of my leather belts eventually wear out due to the accessory load, warping at the holes, but while the hole I used most in the Liger enlarged a bit, it never did really warp, and the belt is still going strong to this day after long-term day-to-day use.

i wear a galco reiforced leather belt.

ive tried ligers, and they are too flexible for my taste. it tends to sag where my holster is attached. i also find the buckle to be a pain to undo.

I have enjoyed Galco (after being broken in) and Wilson Combat belts.

Neither of mine cost me more than $50.

Cabella's has some excellent leather belts at reasonable cost, less than $20. One piece leather, not stitched-together.

+1 on the beltman. Very high quality belt that can be worn all the time not just when carrying.

I have the Duluth non-marking belt. I've worn it daily for a couple of years now and it has held up well. I don't wear a pistol with it, however.

Take a look at the leather work belts at Home Depot. They are thick leather 10 oz, and 2 inches wide. As plain leather it allows for embellishment and with a decent custom buckle they have the potential to look really good and carry the load.
