What's a good leather belt for CCW?

Raindog, you might also check out some police supply houses. I use police duty belts that fasten with velcro rather than buckles.

I used standard leather gun belts for years, but came to dislike the limitations of traditional buckles. Never could get them adjusted just right, I always fell between holes, either too tight or too loose.

The police duty style belt is generally a good looking faux or real leather belt in black or brown, nice and thick and heavy. The velcro allows you to set the tightness just the way you want it, and they aren't terribly expensive.

I have the Duluth non-marking belt. I've worn it daily for a couple of years now and it has held up well. I don't wear a pistol with it, however.

I use one of these as my daily belt since I am not carrying yet either. I have compared them side by side to a true gun belt and it is not stiff enough and doesn't resist stretching enough imo.

There is a leather maker/mfg. here in town that makes a belt that I've been wearing for a few years now. I am pretty hard on my belts and these hold up great. It is two layers of leather with a strip of kydex sewn between them. A little thicker than your average belt but not overly thick.

I have carried a glock 21, badge clip, leatherman and at times an extra magazine pouch and or flashlight. I'm not exactly a little guy and I'm tough on leather. I can recommend this without reservation.

I want to say I paid somewhere around $45.00 for my last one.

Their website is looperleather.com and this particular belt is listed under "kydex belt".

+1 on that. Looper Leather has been making belts and holsters for me for years

Thanks, Chaya. I really like the looks of the cowhide. My only beef is that I prefer double prong buckles, but I haven't really found anything I like in that configuration. I'll probably go with that Rafter S cowhide.

I don't know what they cost these days, but I've had a Milt Sparks gun belt for many years and it is excellent. They are cut on a curve to increase comfort and reduce break-in time.

www.thebeltman.net/ Hands down the best belts custom made here in the USA and delivery time.Highly recommended on all the gun forums.I miss mine, need to get another, great even if you don't carry.

Agreed on the beltman. I've known him personally for near 20 years. He does really good work and will make to order in an amazingly short time. I've got two, each over 5 years and going strong.

I haven't figured out how to steal his assistant yet ( don't want to say her name on line, she might not like it) but it's one of my goals, right up there with becoming a millionaire via the lottery. She' s a very talented, nice, smart and yeah, fine looking leather worker in her own right.:)
