What's a good machete?

But FortyTwoBlades I'm abit curious, in your size comparison picture for the baryonyx machete what is that odd fixed blade knife at the bottom of the first picture? also what's with the "colorful" sheath?

It's a customer's photo, so they're not mine, but the bottom one is a T.M. Hunt M-18 and the colorful sheath is a typical Central/South American ornamented bazaar sheath.

I'm biased, of course, but I also think it provides many of the functions of the Woodman's Pal...but with increased performance and a bunch of extra tricks up its sleeve. :)

And as far as axe-like chopping goes, it was designed to handle everything from grass and briars up to 6" diameter trees. A buddy of mine took the head off a deer with one hit. :D No way the handle can loosen as it's injection molded right to the tang.

I have one of these. It comes in a nice sheath and chops like a BEAST! The day I got mine I had a tree to take down and it would take 2" branches off with one medium swing. I keep mine under my truck seat so it is always with me for all my outdoor travels.

You should throw those pics around a bit more 42. I NEED one now!

Hahaha--the guy who snapped those isn't easy on his gear, either! Here's what it looked like about a month ago right before I put a fresh edge on it for him.

In addition to tossing it around himself he also let some SERE guys he knows knock it about during one of the training sessions they do in his area.

What is your primary blade?
actually sense making that particular post I've been in confusion as to what I want as my new main blade because while looking for a beast of a machete I've also been looking at new blades and I REALLY love all that i've seen so far but only have so much money to spend, long story short I think I've finally settled on the Schrade F36 as my primary blade sense it's a great knife and I like the look of it. My first option i had originally picked was the Ka Bar warthog sense I loved the shape of the blade but then I realized it would be pointless to get 2 large blades so i downgraded to a smaller condor bushlore but then I decided I just didn't like the look of it so then i settled on what I currently have picked out which is the F36.

I've never seen a F36 but just checked one out and it seems like a decent knife for the price. As long as the heat treat is good you should be OK. The only specs I could find say its 5" of 1095 and it weighs 1.6 lbs. It must be pretty thick to be that heavy. You might want to pick up a folder or something for finer tasks. You could stick it right in that pouch on the front of the sheath.

EDIT: I found more Specs that came in at 14.6 oz
That is more like it.
