What's a good "tactical" folding knife

I didnt know knifeworks has a limited run gray griptilian in s30v. I saw the OP pic and got intrigued. I dont look at it or any knife I purchase as tactical though. Hmmm, it comes in either black or satin, which one to get?

Pohan Leu Bluephin,(best folder I have ever owned bar none) and the CS XL Voyager clip point pe. nough said. keepem sharp

Have you looked at the Zero tolerance 0350 it has been my EDC for about 9 months. only real problems is that the pocket clip is very tight and the lanyard hole is small

To be honest people I don't like Spyderco. I don't know why, but I don't. I don't want to get the 350, because I know that my brother bought me a 301 for my birthday, and it feels kinda wrong to me. By tactical I guess I meant it from a sheeple perspective. I'm going to carry my tanto blur with whatever I choose. So weight consideration. Thanks for all the comments/replies, but I think I'm going with the Benchmade. Because I love that blade. And I really love the black blade with white handle.

How'd you find out if that it was knifeworks? IMO I like the Black blade, and white handle combo

Emerson makes the best 'tactical' folders IMO. They are a bit more than $100 though.

Dbag, I've never seen that gray handle s30v on a grip before so I checked BM's creat a grip page and it wasn't there and at that point I was really perplexed. I checked the usual sprint sites and my first stop was KW for the win. If you play with blades, you'll learn fast where to go.

I sold off the two 551's I did have, so this is a good excuse for me to get one. I was gonna get a Ritter Grip, but can't pass this up, Im a sucker for gray scales, and its S30v. I'm getting the satin version. Thanks for the heads up.

Endura would be my choice in that price range. If you step up just a bit to aroung $120 the syderco military is a huge upgrade and in my opinion one of the best production knives ever made.

I'd get a Benchmade 810 Contego. Not too far off of your mark. Excellent tactical folder.

I would take the Benchmade Griptilian over the Blur. Both are nice knives but some places frown on assisted opening. You can open the Griptialian faster (I have both). The Coldsteel Recon and Lawman are both very tough knives. The steel is very good, just not the latest and greatest. These will take anything you can dish out. Remember, you said you wanted a tactical knife. The Benchmade Barrage is on sale for around $100. Also, the Spyderco Military is around $100.

what about a Manix2, or a sage 1 or 3? all great blades, then I love my kershaws and BM blades as well, but for 90, a manix2 with g10, s30v, and great jimping. Or the sage 1 or 3 if you want something just a bit smaller, at just under 3 inches. They have the wire clip, and I carry my sage 2 mostly because it carries so darn well, and it is plenty of blade length, plus, when I go to the city, with the 3 inch limit, I don't worry:) grip, s30 blur, spydiecomes down to what you like.. try to find a knife store where you can hold 'em and see which feels best, there are a lot of great knives around 100.

I carry a beater Griptillian daily.
It takes everything I throw at it.
Ergos are great and I've become a huge fan of their axis lock.
For the money I'd say the BM Grip or the Spyderco Manix2 are both tough to beat.

Julian, OP stated he's not into Spydercos already... But we know better, he just hasnt hit that "stage" yet. Hehe

Paramilitary 2 is a good option.

Also, just like others said here... S30V Blur, Griptilian, Endura are all great. I suppose it just comes down to personal preference between all those in terms of what feels the best, overall weight/deployment method, and what lock you like (compression, liner, axis, or lockback).

Edit to add: Just realized you said you don't like Spyderco's... I didn't at first either... :)

if you need a tactical knife then buy a fixed blade. people got along killing eachother with those for a pretty long time.

but if you want a self defense blade that folds, then go big, or go home. Cold steel espada series, emerson uber commander, benchmade bedlam, spyderco military, etc.
