What's a knife you can't live without?

So it's almost 4 in the morning in Alaska and I find myself on bladeforums fondling my Para 2....thinking to myself, "why do I keep buying more knives, when I know that nothing is gonna kick this knife out of my pocket?..."
I'm not a big steel snob or anything of the sort so s30v is a very good steel for me. Ergonomics is perfect with the para 2, and I just LOVE how handsome this knife looks.
And that's a perfect score in my book.
Good steel (anything above Aus8, 8cr14mov is good to me)
Ergonomics (very important...if it feels good in the hand, I love using/fondling with it)
Aesthetics (another important factor to me)
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Even when I get a newer knife (and I love getting new knives). No matter how much more expensive, or whatever steel it has, it has to share a ride alongside my Para 2 because it's natural habitat is in my right front pocket. It's the Alpha male of the pride. The Mufasa. Anything else are just... "intruders"...

That's when I thought...if for some reason I can only keep ONE blade, it would have to be this one. As the Para 2 is a knife I can't live without.

So what about you guys? Whether it's your shelf queen, user, custom, sprint run, edc or whatever it is....What's a knife you can't live without? Is there even a knife you can't live without?

Post pics  Let's see the 8th wonder of your world ;)

Can't live without the Military. I just love the size of it, how light and thin it is.
The liner lock is the icing on the cake for me.

I'll play. I can "live without" any knife at all but they sure make living easier. I'd say:

1) kitchen butcher knife and 2) XM-18 folder

Edit: lg Sebenza works too :D

I have preferences. My Spyderco Endura goes everywhere except airports and if I lost it, I would buy another. But I could live without any of my knives. That's why I own more than one.

+1 on the Spydy Para 2. I have some terrific contenders but my camo para 2 seems to get the most pocket time. It has even prevented me from purchasing any new folders because I keep comparing them to the P2. Great ergos, nice steel and sexy looks, what more could one want? BTW, my Benchmade Adamas is a not so close second.

I have what may be considered to be better knives than my PM2, but they don't seem to reside in my pocket like my PM2 does. It's just the right size, wt and cuts great.

My Case Peanut. I've carried it everyday for a year, and I love it. It's small enough to disapear in my pocket, but it's there when I need it. I'm confident that I'll carry this knife for the rest of my life.

Usually my Spyderco Tenacious, and a standard 3-7/8" serpentine Stockman. I have been carrying a Spyderco Navaja lately, but the Tenacious still get carried & used 3-4 days a week.

Well, that changes - right now it´s a GEC #66 Serpentine Jack and some Vic Classics on every keyring I have (like the scissors).

I don´t have use for bigger knives, so I don´t carry them a lot...

Kind regards

I'm weird, but I can't be without an emerson on me, they might not slice as well as others, they might not be as pretty as others, but they have served me well over the years, when I carry another brand I honestly say to myself man I wish my emerson cut like this, but theres just something about the emersons.

I can't decide actually, Emerson mini comm, spyderco PM2 and spyderco sage 1. Yeah. I cheated. :D

EDIT - Alright, PM2 it is.

My XM-18 3.5" flipper, and Kershaw Tilt. The Xm is similar to the OP's para in that it never leaves my pocket but the Tilt does get carried occasionally and is probably my favorite "fondling knife". If it were slightly smaller, I would carry it much more.

I like my PM2. I've had a few of these, and finally found my NIB s90v. I haven't carried it yet. I know it's not necessarily any better or worse than N390 or CTS-20CP, but somehow that one steel got into my head. I guess it was the rave when everyone was doing their non-stop cutting tests. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between s90v and s30v probably for quite some time. I like the ease of the compression lock and the free blade-drop when you close it. This knife model is just destined to become a national standard, if it isn't already.
Of course, I'm sometimes a steel-snob, but I also have several EDC's in 154cm that I like a lot.

What a great thread!

It's a tie between these knives.

Strider SNG.
Carbon Fiber Sebenza.
Spyderco Delica.

The one pocket knife that I can't live without is my Victorinox Stayglow Camper. Love this little SAK to death! :)

The one fixed blade that I can not live without, is my Swamprat Howling Rat. Whenever I go out to to the woods, or the nearby sand dunes, my HR is there on my side... in its Okuden sheath.

As much as I love my 0560, the knife that I would not ever let go of is my 7 year old Large Regular Sebenza. This CRK was bought brand new, has served me well through the years and still locks up bank vault solid on the same spot(40%) as she did the first day I took her out of the box. My Sebbie is on her way back after a spa treatment and other goodies that were added.....should be here tomorrow!! :D
