What's all the fuss about?

I've owned/own both.. the big difference is in the weight. The XM is considerably heavier than the strider.. to some people this is good thing, others bad thing. Just thought you may like to hear my experience.

Thanks for the info. I definitely like the heft of the XM. I actually thought it was pretty light for the size, that Ti is some light stuff:). I've heard some say the 3.5" doesn't carry very well in the pocket, although it's been perfect for me the last few days.

Someday I'll make a trip to Plaza Cutlery and check out some Striders in person.

Why is there a thumb stud and a spyderhole? lol

Guess you'll have to ask Strider that!

However, when the detent really holds the blade in, using the hole makes it easier to get the blade started.

If you want to wrist flick the blade out, well the hole and stud aren't necessary at all.

And having both a thumb stud and a hole makes it ready to go... :D

The thumbstuds are blade stops. Also, be warned that the warranty does NOT cover any intentional abuse or mods. That is a common misconception. In fact, if you even bring up abuse or modding on the Strider forum, and request a warranty fix/replacement, you will get a severe tongue lashing, and be ridiculed by the faithful. They are very adamant about that.

Oy vey!

Congrats on getting the SnG. I really like mine. Though nothing's concrete yet, Mick started a thread on the Strider forums yesterday saying he might have to change the warranty. He said there's too many people taking advantage of it. The warranty was one of my reasons for shelling out the dough for mine, so I'm kind of at a loss. I understand why they might change the warranty from their perspective, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

That knife is soooo cool...

If they water down the warranty, I hope they'll water down the retail price too!

That is a NICE knife and somewhat rare - The fastener says "Hinderer" on it. As in Rick. The newer striders do not say that making this knife that much more special! Love the tiger stripe and the striderized finish on the other size. AWESOME! People can be haters but there is nothing like owning a Strider! Use that blade in good health! You have a winner there!

i just cant see or justify 400 dollars for them........call me cheap but 400 dollars:eek: way above my means..and if i wasnt over my means i dont think i would buy it anyway. ive never held one. so i cant comment on the quality . it better be real good.
fried

First of all, I didn't pay $400, but much less than that, as I bought it used.

And is the quality good? You betcha...

I suggest you try to find a friend who has one for you to take a look at, they're excellent.

Nice knife man! I bought my first high end folder this week too. I went with an XM-18 and couldn't be more happy. I've thought about getting a SnG for a long while but can't get past the possible QC issues.

I said this would be my only high-end folder for a long while but my XM makes me want to check out a Strider even more than I did before:eek::D

Check 'em out, it's worth your while.

Sweet knife, congrats! Just when I thought I had talked myself out of getting a Strider!

However, after all the QC issues, I know I won't be buying one without handling it first. Glad you got lucky, and good to hear you'll be getting your enjoyment out of it, too.

No kidding!
