When I was growing up, even in the heart of Wisconsin, I was considered a potential threat for being interested in guns and knives. And it wasn't just for the voilent aspects of it, ballistic sciences and bushcraft fascinated me, yet I was still considered to be a nut job. Our public schools are brainwashing factories of a liberal hoochykoo society, of grocery stores and malls and sheltered communities. Seeing kids genuinely involved in shooting at such a young age gives me hope for the future of our society. NC527, that is a fine rifle for a person of your age. If you don't have one already, a nice .22 is the best place to start for working on your shooting skills. They are much cheaper to shoot so you can get more practice in and really break down the fundamentals of precision shooting. A Savage Mk2, Cz452 or Marlin 60 would be a great complement to your 710, you can practice on targets or varmint year round. Also easier to learn skinning and dressing techniques on rabbits than it is on deer.
