What's coming from Golden in 2015

I would be all over a Military 2. Given the stated purpose of the knife (designed for soldiers), I would hope it would not come with a liner lock. A liner lock is the worst kind of lock for the Military. Give us a powerlock, compression lock, ball bearing lock, anything but a liner lock. Unlike civilians, soldiers might actually have a need to use the knife in self-defense, and liner locks are not strong enough for that function.

I would hope anyone that needs a self defense blade has a fixed blade strapped to the front of their gear.

The liner lock is the best lock operated with gloves on.

I was in the thread where Sal dropped a very specific hint for the Chinook 2.
Okay. So Military 2, Chinook2 and......?
Probably the talk was about next Chinook and not Chinook 2. Chinook 2 was discontinued years ago.

The last variant was Chinook 3 with FFG blade, which also was discontinued years ago in 2009 or 2010.

So the next Chinook most likely will be 4.

I take it you don't own a Military, and never used one.

Oak sapling. Push cut in, twisted, ripped, pryed out. Repeatedly.

So a liner lock is the worst kind? Hmmm.....

Educate yourself; type in "liner lock failure" on YouTube. I do believe Sypyderco has superior liner lock geometry compared to other major companies (especially on the Military where the blade tang has a concave shape), but in general liner locks are the least reliable.

I think I educated myself when I USED mine to take down a few saplings. ;)

As well as carrying and using it every single day. Still have all my fingers too.

In my opinion actual hands on experiance trumps you tube vids any day.

I am itching to pick up a Military, but now I'm thinking it may be best to wait and see what the Mili2 looks like.

Decisions, decisions...

You guys must all have huge hands!

I held a Millie once and I could almost get two hands on it, the damn thing was so big. The para 2 is perfect for me though.

Too bad I like my CRKs so much:p:D

I haven't been able to stop carrying my Milie. All Leatherman's fault, too. :D Those pretty pictures all the time made me curious, and once I got it in my hands, that was that.

Not really sure but I bought over 100 knives last year. That's why I need a budget...
And I remember the name of that Native variant, Shaman. It is supposed to be between the Native and the Chief in size I think.

I showed my wife this, since I bought about 40 knives last year. She said, "He must not be married." lol

....Agreed ! When I see a post that "accuses" the Military as being fragile or weak I typically think that perhaps those that believe this to be true haven't really taken the opportunity to give the model a "full" workout. I believe as you do, the knife is plenty tough and plenty capable.
