What's everyones favorite steel?

From my own personal experience, my favorites would be SR101 and S30V. With an honorable mention to 1095 and 12c27.

This is tough because I love 1095 and Cases cv in slipjoints but S30v for a lock blade. O1 or 1095 for fixed blades.

For a folder Zdp189. To be more specific the best I have encountered is zdp laminated in ats 34 and double tempered.

Infi for fixed blades, though I'm looking to tryout CPM M4

I'm not very picky about folders but S30V and M2 are the top of list.

There are so many great steels out there today that it's tough to make a choice.
Also, I like laminated steels for certain applications.

For a folder, I guess ZDP-189.
For a small fixed blade, I like D2 and A2.
(If I could pick a laminated steel, it would be the laminated SGPS in the new Limited Edition Fallkniven F1.)
For a larger fixed blade, I like INFI.

I love me some s30v although i have to admit i get pretty jealous when i hear about someone whos got a knife with zdp-189

ZDP-189 for edge retention and it's ability to take a very fine edge.
13C and 14C for ease of sharpening and also takes a very fine edge.

I'm still waiting on a competition between 19C27 and SB1. I suppose when it starts we'll be a little closer to the conclusion.
