Alright Fiddlebacks, I want to read and see pics of your holiday dinner.

I didn't get enough turkey for Thanksgivin', so I'm brining and roasting a 24lber. I'll have pics when that sucker is cooked.

Be safe this Christmas and new year guys. If you had one too many, just stay the night. Trust me, your family member's or buddy's wife will forgive you, eventually.

Have a good one! Thanks to all you regulars and new comers for making this sub forum a great place to hang.

Cheers,
Duder

Prime Rib. 6 Ribs worth. 14.7#. Garlic mashed potatoes (or at least enough potatoes to hold the butter and cream together). Haricot Vert. Micro Caprese Salad. Blue cheese popovers. Cheddar, buttermilk, and chive biscuits. Cheese course w/ grapes, pears, and Port for afterwards....

Pictures forthcoming.

I don't know what's for dinner yet as I have been out of power for three days now and it looks like it will be a few more days yet until I am back in service. Maybe a Chinese restaurant like in A Christmas Story! Lol!

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! What time should Duder show up?

That sucks Grim! I like how your keeping your sense of humor through it all, very inspiring. I hope you end up having a happy one.

Merry Christmas buddy.

I was scheduled to work until 10pm tonight, but managed to close the doors at 6 instead, so it looks like my favorite Christmas eve at home with the wife and I. Lots of kids and family for the next few days, so a quiet evening at home is to be treasured. Happy Holidays to all, and to all a Good Night!

Local farm raised heritage crown pork roast with apricot glaze for my husband. Cranberry glazed Tofurkey for me with asparagus, maple tarragon sweet potato, garlic mashed potato, apple stuffing, salad. For dessert homemade blackberry pie. I grew Florida cranberries and put them up in September. The glazes are from scratch and I picked the blackberries this past summer.

Reindeer roast. I'm doing the cooking, but didn't get a ticket for reindeer this hunting season so I didn't do the shooting :grumpy:

If Santa is late for you guys it is probably because he was a reindeer short:D

My fiance and I will have a small brunch with our daughters and grandchildren. Then then future wife and I are coming home to a quiet evening and dinner for 2. I have 2 nice fillets, 2 large baked potatoes with all the fixings and some asparagus.

A little chocolate/cherry port for desert.

OK, got a little carried away with the beverages while cooking. So, the photos started out good but I did not capture the pinnacle of the meal.

Here's what I did get a decent shots of:

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day!

SORRY DUDER
we went to my mom's for lunch yesterday. it was already when the wife & i arrived

we had a turkey breast,pan dressing w/ giblet gravy,butter peas,candied yams & fruit salad

OK after the fact … not nearly as 'gourmet' as some folks, but here's my offering …

This is the first Holiday since divorce (trust me, better for all, no tears) … and I had the boys/men (13 & 20) with me this Christmas at the "man shack" …

Roasted Ham Butt w/ glazed brown sugar carrots, Cornbread & Sausage Stuffing, Chunky mashed potatoes, Garlic Roasted Broccoli, Yorkshire Pudding (semi-successful), Flaky Buttermilk Biscuits, Apple Crumb Pie a la mode …

That's about it, came out pretty good. Happy Holidays, Fiddlebacks!

Sounds yummy all! Thanks Duder for starting the thread and everyone for sharing.

We loaded up the car and drove to MN to spend Christmas with my family. 14 of us around the table for every meal. Couple of highlights:

Christmas Eve was cheese fondue and then chocolate fondue. Christmas dinner was prime rib and all the fixins. I should probably walk home to CO to work it all off.

The Runt was my knife of choice for the week. No pics - didn't want to deal with the "why are you taking pictures of your food and knife?"

Happy New Year FFAs. May it be a blessed one.

Well, with just the three of us, the feast was a small affair. The Woodsman got the honor of carving the roast beast :)

A few other Fiddleback shots from the occasion :D

For Christmas Dinner we had: Ham, Barbecued pork medallions, barbecued chicken, Sweet potato casserole, green beans with applewood bacon, rolls, lumpia with sweet chili sauce, mac and cheese with sticky rice or fried plantains and vanilla ice cream. Not healthy but delicious!

But I would honestly trade that meal to have vienna sausages in the camper with my Dad at Thanksgiving just one more time.

God Bless and keep each of you.

Wow! I finally get to post a pic in this thread. I actually hosted 30 members of my family on Christmas Day and 10 of my in-laws last night. I basically did a thanksgiving dinner on Christmas Day, and a prime rib last night. My house was so packed and crazy, I was only able to snap one pic.

Mist- is that a bolstered corn flower blue recluse? That's a sweet looking blade!

M4- looking good!

Hope all you guys and gals had a happy Christmas and are going to have a great new year!

Wow, sound like you had your hands full this year!

Yep, sure is. It is a beautiful knife.

Do I spot a Le Creuset cooking pot (well, at least the lid of one...) in the back of that turkey? That's my prefered brand of cast iron ... kitchen stuff!

Being alone at X-mas is no fun but since I always enjoy a good meal, I just kept it simple but tasty:
25-12: entrée with game paté on toast; dinner with wild pig roast, wild mushroom risotto, green salad with fried bacon chips and a creamy green herb dressing accompanied by a 2005 Brunello di Montalcino; dessert was ice cream with sour cherries in heavy syrup sauce. Ended the evening with coffee, port and a good cigar.
26-12: largely the same, just no entrée or dessert and the risotto was replaced by in rosemary infused olive oil fried potatoes that were accompanied by a 2006 Burgundy red whine.

Together with getting a lot of in house chores done, this pretty much sums up my Christmas.

Those meals sound mighty fine.

Nice eye for the Le Creuset! I love my set! I mostly braise and stew with my LC dutch oven. It's so well seasoned that as it heats up, with no oil, it gives of the smell of salty caramelized mirepoix. That dutch oven is almost 10 years old.
