What's going on in your shop? Show us whats going on, and talk a bit about your work!

omg, that makes me cringe, good think you thought "oh! I better take a picture of this before going to the doctor!" though :)

That's an eye opener. Heal fast Josh and consider yourself lucky you didn't clip a tendon or have nerve damage. On the plus side you have perfect marketing material for tactical kitchen ware.

You're not supposed to cut yourself. Oh sorry, that's my wife echoing in my head when I do stuff like that.

Definitely going to slow down and think things through. That injury is a wake up call for me. Complacency can get the best of you.

Been a while.
Japanese honesuki style blade with a western handle
AEB-L stainless
Red linen micarta
White G10 liner
Stabilized blue dye buckeye burl

My first one with dovetailed scales into the bolsters. Blade complete for around a year waiting for a handle.

First hidden pin too in the bolster.

Glued up.

Profiled

Hand wet sanding. Bolsters look symmetrical Yay.

Clean 800 grit. I'll do about 6 coats of tru oil after this.

Not that you guys haven't seen a handle progression but I thought I'd include it for newer makers.

Dovetailing the bolsters and scales gives a professional look to your knife. Very nice. Larry

Thanks Larry. It is the first one that I've completed in about three months. I was worried that I forgot how to do handles!

Maelstrom I love that color combination. Please post it when you're done oiling!

Will do. Just put on the third coat. Dinner with my wife tonight so either late tonight or early tomorrow. It might be in my head but I like to buff with the same napkin I'll use to wipe my finger off with between coats. It either helps the finish or it is a sneak peek of what it will look like once I buff it up a little bit on the final coat. I put another coat on right afterwards so I don't know if it does anything. Either way I do it.

I was bringing home my box of steel from AKS when I was attacked by sharks with fricken lasers on their heads. :(

Ok here is 5 coats of tru oil. One more and I'll put the final sharpening. Think I'll try a saya for it to. That will be a first too.

Shite cellphone pics sorry.

I've switched at from CA to the tru oil. Actually easier and I think the less glossy end product looks better.
