I just scrolled through four pages of knives (16 per page) on the BC website and could only see perhaps one or two Full Flat Grinds.... even the little knives are pretty much all Sabre..

It is a little hard to tell on some of the painted blades and I only own a fraction of them.... but it looks to me that:

Battle Mistress's
Boss Jack
AMS

Are the only Full flat Grinds in the whole line up. Even the new Basic release (traditionally always FF) - the BB13, is Sabre....

I would love to see a bit more FF...

Probably explains why the BWM, BG-BJ and BG-AMS are my fave blades [emoji41]

The best (in my opinion) overall "one knife" Busse ever made, the NMFBM, has a full-height grind. My MOAB has a full-height grind as well.

different strokes for different folks. The Sabre Grind adds stiffness and weight to a thinner knife.

I like both Saber and FFG and prefer one or the other for each different knife design. Some Saber ground choppers would have much better geometry if they were FFG though.

My NMFBM was saber, my understanding is only the LE's are FFG or Full height convex. They would be badass choppers..

NMFBM...I thought they were all Flat. FBM were Sabre or flat in the Fattys. I could be wrong though.

Nope, the NMFBM is convex or convex sabre just like the NMSFNO, only the NMFSH was full flat from the NM offerings. ;)

I prefer my FBMLE, .27 FBM, NMFSH, MOABolo, B11, B8, Meaner HACK, Wedding Muk and all of my other FFG blades quite a bit as they just work well and bite deep. I just used my HACK again last night to pushcut through some soft 1" x 1/4" finish wood last night to make some sliding window sill blocks for the chicken coop for winter due to it being quicker than going to get a saw. It is much more convenient to be able to score and cut with the same tool on my belt without traipsing all over the place for fancier tools that might need battery packs (that don't always want to work in freezing temps) and/or power cords.

Hey Tim, do you remember those Black Black FFBM's we scored at Blade? I still regret trading mine... They were FFG eh? I think they were made from LE blanks??

That's a good point.... Maybe for another thread.. titled - What's Happened to the Nuclear Meltdown offerings???

Bring Back Full Flat and Nuclear Meltdown I say! Would sell like hotcakes... (then again what release doesn't?)

Yesssssss.. Nuclear Meltdown really sets the blade apart from the rest. I wish they would keep doing it. Imagine the Urban Fudge with Nuclear Meltdown....

Big fan of FFG, the AMS is fantastic. I think they went with strength over cutting performance on the sabre knives though.

I love my FF blades, I keep trying saber and they keep getting sold. I believe Dan over in the Yard once mentioned a saber grind was more cost effective to make. FF needs to be more exact.

Nope I was wrong. Other way around. This was Dan commenting on the changes from the TT Reg to the MO Reg

It's still the same thickness.

I have to be honest with you, the saber grind shocked all of us when it emerged as the best chopper. And the difference in efficiency was pretty big.

I was really rooting for the full height grind as I thought it looked as though it would chop better and it is MUCH cheaper to manufacture. Saber grinds have to be much more accurate than full height grinds which means that we are forced to use CNC grinders as opposed to mechanical or hydraulic grinders which are much less expensive to run.

Here's another one for you that made little sense at first. The full height grind caused much greater hand and arm fatigue than did the saber ground model. The saber ground version remained comfortable to chop with even in cold weather with no gloves on for extensive periods of time. We ultimately attributed this to the dampened vibration of the blade from the extra rigidity... sort of like a bull barrel on a high power rifle or simliar to difference you feel when you club yourself in the head with an empty bottle instead of a full one.

Very interesting! I'm not saying that it has changed my mind but interesting all the same.

Yeah, those stealth FBMLE's were sweet! I should have kept mine too, oh well I still have the pic & the memory. :)

Considering Dan's info on production costs it seems kinda odd how the most expensive offerings in the past couple years have mostly been FFG... MOABolo (1st version), MOABM, WTF.

I miss the LB treatment which I'll bet is spendy in itself.

I do agree that ffg is pretty sweet. I get how it could be less efficient chopping with less spine mass however.

Bump.
I want to give this thread a little more oxygen hoping it will get noticed by the gods.

BBTFFG!
