Well, I'm no Emerson expert (I just like his knives) and since I do live right down the street from the show and just got back, I can tell you that Emerson seems to have a selection of customs which will not go on sale until later today.

There are Emerson customs to be found on other tables as well, but the prices are too rich for my blood.

Ernie was there too. As was a not-for-sale NASA knife.

Anyway, this was my first show and it was cool to walk around and see all the stuff in person. I met Darral Ralph briefly (since I have two of his knives, I wanted to say "hi.")

I could have hung out longer, but I would have spent all my $$$ and my wife would ahve stabbed me with whatever knife I came home with.

I'm sure someone will give you a better update that I can.

Here's the good news:
Ernie has lots of customs up for raffle sale.
Viper 1
Viper 2 (four of these!!!!)
Viper 4
Viper 5
CQC-6
CQC-6 Black T Blade
CQC-6 Full Dress
ES1-M
CQC-8
CQC-5 (?)
Lots of Neck Knives

Production Knives:
SARK
NASA
MINI CQC-7 Black T (Not for sale)
Big Tanto (Like the prototype customs): This is an INI Sports exclusive. The example at the show was not for sale.

Also Damascus Mach-1 & Commander. The steel on the Commander is awesome.

And of course Ernie's good spirits!

Suspects in attendance as of 12 noon:

Jackstraw
David T
Ronald Reagan (Where did you go buddy? I turned around and you were gone.)

Ernie is getting Mr. Wire to photograph Jackstraw's pre-tacticals.

Tried hard to will Mr Emersons daughter to pull my name from the hat. No such luck though. Some very nice knives to choose from for the winners. (mostly other dealers it seemed like). The rest of the show was pretty boring. Maybe that's because i would only carry an Emerson though.

I was surprised when Ernie told me he had a delivery to make to me on an order I placed five years ago. I am now the proud owner of two custom CQC 7's with Black T blades and black Micarta scales, no bolsters. They are unique and match my custom CQC 8 perfectly.

It's 7:30 & I just got home from the show. Ernie was suppose to have had 25 customs. I can't confirm that but he kept pulling them out from his little black bag. I don't know what that's going to do to the market. He had a neat little mini production CQC7. Available in January.

I WAS CALLED FOR THE DRAWING!!!!. Actually alot of the usual suspects got called. We thought the drawing was fixed at fist because alot of the dealers were getting called first. Then all of a suden, David T. Hey, that's me. We made out like bandits. I of course got another CQC5.The best part of it is that I only paid $500.00 bucks! I also got a new in the box Viper 2. Cute little knife just my style. Got this from a usual suspect.

Ark, What happened to you. You were one of the first to be called.

I saw the following people:
Jackstraw. Always good to see you again. You have a very inpressive collection which keeps growing. Congrats on your new knife.
Ronald Regan: Great meeting you & thanks.
I met the following people face to face for the first time: Ark, Jbravo great meeting you guys.

John,
Sorry, I didn't bring my digital camera. I couldn't get any pictures anyway. There was always too many heads & bodies surrounding the table.

Well that's all I can remember for now.

I think I got a Viper 2. It's the smaller version. Mine has a thumb disc & is marked Specwar 2000. The ones Ernie brought had thumb studs without a pocket clip?? Can someone explain this to me.
Here's mine

Got called in the raffle and picked up a damascus CQC5. I'll get a picture up of it in the very near future.

Brought the pre-tacticals to show Ernie. He told me they were early '80s. Took me to Jim Weyer (does the Tactical Knives covers, and a lot of the covers for Blade) and I spent an hour with him watching him set up for the shoot and the shoot itself. Quite an education watching a master.

Got to see Ark (damn man, we looked all over for you...first name called in the raffle, but you were gone), David T (great new 5 David...what a difference a year makes), met Lifter4Him (cousin??) and Ronald Reagan.

The scene at Ernie's table during the raffle was surreal. People lined up 6 deep. The Emerson thing has really become quite a phenomenon. Needless to say, there were a lot of great makers at the show, but nobody had a following or a scene like Ernie.

As always, Ernie was friendly, informative and helpful. Mary and his daughters are charming as always. In addition to everything else, the Emersons are a lovely family.

The small 7 (proto...not for sale) is on the way. A great carry piece. All in all, a great show. I understand a whole bunch of other suspects were there...sorry I didn't get to meet the rest of you.

Once in a while you get shown the light
In the strangest of places if you look at it right.

By some stroke of good fortune, I was called at the end of the raffle...just in time to snag an ES-1. At first I wasn't thrilled because I had my eyes set on that Viper 5!!! But after a few hours with this knife, I realize that it is absolutely awesome!

$650 for and ES-1. Not bad even though i thought it was $550.

David T....nice knife

Why not post a pic of the CQC5?

Paul,
You were the last person to be called? Talk about cutting it close (No pun intended). Congrats on your new ES1-M. That is one tough looking knife. Did you see what happened to the mini green CQC7. Thanks for the Viper. The more I play with it the more I like it. I especially like the g-10. Pic of a pair of CQC5's

Sounds like the "usual suspects" were well represented and sounds like you all made out like BANDITS!

John, we've got to get up there! Anyone wanting to get rid of any of those ugly Emersons just give me a shout!

Keep those photos and good vibes a-comming!

Jackstraw, Any clue where the pictures might show up?

Ronald Reagan, The ES1-M was the last one picked!?

You gotta be kidding me. How about some details. Black-T or Satin, Plain edge or Serrated, Chisel grind or "V" grind, ect. Better yet, send pictures!

P.S. If you tire of it, you know where it can find a good home . . . right?

DavidT, I assume the CQC5 picture is an optical illusion due to no Macro setting?

Sniper308, You know I'm going to be at the Blade Show in Atlanta . . . with bells on.
smile.gif
You figure out if your going to make it or not?

I know it's early, but anyone else planning on being there? I think we need a meet and greet lunch at "Ruby Tuesdays" there at the show.

Les Robertson had 2 EMS-1 for sale at 1800 bucks each
Plus someone there had a cqc8 for 1300 bucks

There were actually 4 ES-1's. I was approx. the 4rth or 6th to last called. The ES-1's were not designated "military," hence the absence of the "M." I can only assume this is due to the fact that the blades were all satin finished.

They were all chisel ground, with no secondary bevel. They are awesome. It has become my new daily carry ( I got it for $650, not $1000+!!). All I can say is that I was a lucky bastard.
