What's happening at the NYC Show

John,
I really felt bad about not getting any pictures on Friday. So I went back to the show today. I was in such a rush getting out of the house that I forgot the camera AGAIN. I did see the Usual Suspect lurking at the show again. I got there late. Show closed at 3:00PM, I got there at 2:15PM. Emerson had 4 or 5 full dress 6's left.

EDGE1,

I won the lottery and bought it directly from Ernie.

Like David T said, there were a few drees models left and there were also4 custom productions with damsacus blades. I believe most of them were Specwars or SOCFK's...I can't really remember, but they did have the Specwar handles.

i have a couple of questions, i love emerson knives, i own a couple myself... mostly production... i really dont want to beat up a nice custom, but i have a question about Emerson's drawing...

i was wondering about those guys from LDC customs, and how they get so many knives from that drawing. i saw that the two guys+wives, plus two collector guys were working for LDC, whats up with that?

i dont think its fair that he can get like 4 and i cant get a chance to buy my first custom... and i know that if you work for LDC the first thing you gonna do is jump on my case, but you know what... i dont think its fair, and you know what... i would love to buy more LDC knives, only if you guys started taking that stamp off you knives... there is a brend that i have seen for a while, and you know if it werent for that stupid LDC# it would be mine.... sorry just venting there at the end, but hey this is an open forum, believe me if it was the LDC forum... i wouldnt be posting.

Tac:

I'm wiping the tears from eyes from laughing so hard! Les Robertson of LDC is probably the last guy on earth to get preferential treatment from Emerson! They have bad blood going back for years, ever since he pointed out some problems with Emerson knives deliveries.

Instead, he gets Emersons the old fashioned way - buying them from people who don't want them anymore. Same opportunity you have, if you're willing to put up some cash instead of whining! You don't want to beat up a custom, then don't buy one, but stop sniveling about other guys who pony up the cash so they can.

Yea, that damn LDC getting all the goodies froom Emerson under the table hahahahahahahaa

"thelu" No need to jump of the guy. Very unsociable of you. "TacticalMac" asked a legitimate question and deserves a civil answer.

"TacticalMac", I made a little face when you asked about Les/Ernie. You may want to do a search on "Les Robertson" on the forum here. There are issues that I don't think any of us want clouding the waters.

I will say that Les has many sources for Emerson customs. Does he salt the hat with his people? Sure, probably does. Some other folks get in the hat hoping to get pulled so they can run to a dealer such as Les and make a couple of hundred dollars selling him their new knives.

Does it make it tough on the collectors that want to keep the knives, sure. But they take their chances just like we do. Ernie and Mary try to keep folks to one card per drawing, making it as fair as possible for all. (Did anyone ask for a manual recount?)

As far as Les' knives, he has his own forum that may be a more appropriate place your LDC concerns/questions.

Take care and Welcome

John

thanks John, you read the post... unlike thelu who had no clue what i wrote. i know that les and ernie have bad blood, in fact i put money on the fact that i have known that longer then he has, mainly because i was present at a show where they had a confrontation. i appreciate your time John, thanks again.

and by the way i do own his customs, i just dont carry them, but i cant expect EVERYONE (this is you here thelu) to appreciate his knives for their value.

Thelu and John,

Thanks for explaining in part to TacMac that he really doesn't know what he is talking about.

Tac, I have sent you a seperate email, as your comments about LDC do not need to be discussed in the Emerson forum.

Next, I have not bought a knife from Emerson directly at a show since the Blade Show 1994.
Nor have I "salted the hat".

Every Emerson custom knife I receive is from a seller I have never met, a client or in several other ways. Such as from other dealers, Pawn Shops, Gun Ranges, Gun and Knife shows, Ebay, other auctions. I even bought one out of a newspaper classified ad.

I know that Bob Neal (my partner in LDC)did get 1 knife in the drawing. Again, no front men, no "salting". He was just taking his chance like everyone else.

Also, only two people work for LDC, Bob and I. As LDC Custom knives is a specialty knife line.

Bob has been a custom knife dealer for 17 years and is the owner of Neal Custom Knives.

This should clear up any concernes you had about "preferential treatment".

TacMac,

Do me a favor, in the future check your facts before you post.

By the way next time you post, how about identifying yourself. Or you can just email me off line.

I only gave the guiy a hard time because he came over here in a thinly vieled attempt to trash Les, using Emersons lousy raffle idea as a cover. By the way, he should get his phony story straight. In the first post he says he trying to get his "first custom" and now he claims does own customs. Which ones? How about a picture?

We really don't need someone coming in and making up things while attacking a guy unrelated to this forum using Emerson as a cover. Move it over to the Robertson Forum if thats you're problem, but stick to Emerson here. And figure out your story before you bring it here too.

Thelu- Well said!!! I met Les for the first time at the NYC show and he brought a knife for me to view that I did not purchase and he was nothing but nice about it. I look forward to dealing with Les in the future.
I joined this forum because of the higher maturity level here not found in the others. Let's keep it that way...
